Bishop Brossart 40 Dayton 6

Featured Replies

Dayton looked very undisciplined most of the night, thought I'd see better than I did. Brossart looks like they picked back up pretty much from where they left off. Overall, I was impressed with their passing game. The Mustangs looked like they should be good to go for their district.

Dayton struggled on offense and defense. No diversity on offense which allowed Brossart to pack the box all night long.

On defense Dayton used twin safeties lined up 15-18 yards off the line of scrimmage and the Brossart receivers were still able to get behind them repeatedly and the Brossart QB easily threw the ball past them. First three Brossart scores were on long passes.

Brossart played a smart game and their offense is fairly creative with multiple routes. They did turn the ball over and had some penalties but they let Dayton self-destruct once the score got to 19-6 late in the third quarter.

Dayton has to get more out of the QB position. Not a running or throwing threat and maybe more suited to a slot receiver position. Back-up QB has way more arm so maybe they are using non-district games to get some things ironed out.

Brossart defense played well and was disciplined. Mustangs should have a decent year but I'm not sure how far they can carry that. Should have a nice district run and probably on par with most 1A teams but obviously the waters get deeper at the top of 1A.

Completely agree about Dayton's offense. I believe their backup at quarterback is a better option too.

Brossart's defense looked good between the tackles. Offensively, they have to control the turnovers. The ball had gotten stripped too easy, imo. Any win is a good win, now comes understanding your deficiencies and getting better each week. I was extremely impressed with their kicking game. Right it down, Sendelbach will be one of the top kickers in NKY this year. He can kick for any team in NKY.

Excessive flags and turnovers from both teams marred an otherwise good first outing for the re-invented Mustangs.

Chase Keller, who vied with Craig Pfefferman for the starting quarterback position a year ago connected with Junior Bryce Donnelly for three TD completions - all in the first half. The O line gave Keller plenty of time tonight and Chase had a big night.

Newcomer Keller McGrath scored on a Pick Six, while returners Bradley Moore and Jack Howard scored their first varsity touchdowns.

With the exception of giving up an 80 yard touchdown drive early in the second half, the Mustangs defense was solid against the Greendevil offense. Jake Martin and Derek Schadler recorded the majority of the tackles.

Left-footed, former soccer jock Jake Sendelbach converted four PATs.

The Mustangs will be tested next Friday night in Alexandria as we host the Aiken Falcons who are ranked among Cincinnati schools.

Is Chase Roger Keller's son?

Is Chase Roger Keller's son?

Son of Roger (Jr) and Jen Keller

disappointing start. was hoping for a better showing. not that it would have made much difference, but dayton's starting qb/ safety was out. would've helped with pass and pass defense. brossart did a great job protecting their qb and they have fast receivers that had plenty of time to get open. didn't see much of run game, except for keller. I didnt see much of a drop off from last year, and in some ways they may be better.

the back up qb for dayton was actually 3rd string and struggles knowing the plays, as it seemed, did most of the offense throughout the game.

dayton actually showed some life early in second half. had a nice drive and some good stops on d. but penalties, turnovers and mistakes doomed any type of comeback. hopefully they get it cleaned up by next week, for what should be a closer than usual game with bellevue.

@daytonfan68 Where were QB1 and QB2 this week? Are they out for long?

Didn't know that was the third stringer at quarterback for Dayton. Should have followed better than what I did to know.

Seth Chin was out with knee injury. He is the best player on the team and was supposed to start at qb. Hopefully he can go this week.
