Pre season top 10 rankings

In an earlier post it was stated the Scott County beat Dunbar in pool play of the KBA to give Dunbar their only loss of the summer, so with that being said I guess they won the KBA tourney? Is this correct? Secondly I guess Taylor County must have lost most of their talent as they aren't mentioned anywhere although their new coaching hire has been mentioned (and I am certainly not disagreeing here) as a homerun hire. This is a question about Taylor Co. although it may not seem like it.

Scott County did beat Dunbar in the KBA State Tournament but it was in pool play. Scott County lost in the semi finals of bracket play to Christian County in a close game and Dunbar defeated Christian County in the finals by 14-15 points.

Thanks so much! I found the Dunbar/Scott Co. game on youtube. Does anyone know if the championship game or other games in the KBA or online ???

Scott County has loads of talent but I was very impressed with what I can from Dunbar this summer. I'm halfway curious if they will be better this season than they were last season. They seem to have more depth this season.

I feel scott county may have improved more than dunbar improved. Last years SC team was so young and inexperienced. This will be the year they show what they can do. It will still come down to SC and Dunbar but the game will be a lot closer than last years 11th region championship. Im ready for a fun season

I don't know the state well enough to rank the teams but I do know that both CCH and Cooper are going to be contenders. My memory tells me Cooper will be deeper this year than they were last with some young bigs coming up to varsity to go along with two stud scorers and an elite defender and a strong PG. CCH is deep and can run out big or small lineups .

Don't sleep on Lexington Catholic in the 11th.

Dunbar lost to Scott County by 7-8 points in pool play at the KBA Summer State Tournament or whatever you want to call that. It was Dunbar's only loss of the summer. The game is on YouTube actually. Hollingsworth had 41 and didn't play well. With all that said Scott County will be really good this season. Like someone else said though it's summer ball. You can't really put much stock into summer ball. You don't know who wasn't playing who will be where so it is what it is. I expect Scott County, Lexington Catholic, and Dunbar to all be towards the top of the 11th this season. Moreno is already really good and has a chance to be great. He's special. Scott County has a lot of pieces that is for sure. Definitely a team I would put in the top 3-5 to start the season.

For what it's worth, which is not much here is my preseason top 10...

1. Bowling Green

2. Covington Catholic

3. Scott County

4. Trinity

5. Dunbar

6. Fern Creek

7. Lexington Catholic

8. Christian County

9. Doss

10. North Hardin

Not trying to argue with you, not at all. Im trying to understand what is making Cov Cath a top 3 team in the state. Can you give me a little insight? I know they have CVH but what else is making them that good?

CVH and CJ Fredrick are probably the only "stars" on the team, but they are loaded with quality depth at every position along with size. Not many teams around the state with the individual talent top to bottom that Covcath will have on it's roster this year.

I personally like Cooper's starting 5 a little more led by Hendrix, McNeil, and Kunkel, but the Colonels definitely deserve any preseason "hype" that people are giving them on here.

Even with King I don't think Lex Christian would have been a contender. Rhodes can't carry that big of a load. He is a really good player but not that kind of player yet to put them at number 7 in the state. North Hardin lost entirely too many good role players off that team last year to dominate anything this year. After Trace and Tony Jackson, the drop off is too big. They have too many unproven people behind them. Bardstown and John Hardin will give them all they can handle....I wouldn't even put them as the favorite in the region this year. I haven't even heard if Trace's transfer has been approved yet. Anyone have any info on that at this point

That's laughable...if Taylor County can be the favorite with two studs, why can't North? Trace is good to go from what I've heard down the way in Hardin Co. With that being said, North will be far from a 2 horse show.

Southwestern is gonna be a scary team to play this season. Better than most think. Still not top 10-15.

Did you watch North this summer? They may be the favorite...the statement I made was correct though...they have too many unproven players after Trace and Tony. The drop off is huge. No arguments here though; I think they'll be fine but not a top ten team in the state. Who is behind them and not a huge drop off.

No I didn't, not in the area anymore. But I do have solid info and whether I did or not. The fact remains that Taylor was a 2 man show and had this "drop off" that you speak of lol that didn't stop them from being a consensus top 10 team. Idk if your dog implies you being a John Hardin fan, but don't let your fandom blind you from reality bud. North will be ok from what I know...you'll see.

I am a John Hardin fan...lol but I try not to let it blind my thoughts...2 things....number one is neither Tony nor Trace is Q Goodin. Number two is I did watch them and it was tragic. Still I ask who is the supporting cast that will help Tony and Trace

Jackson is getting the same looks Goodin did...I wouldn't way there's a bunch of separation, if any. Again, I'm not I'm the area so I don't have names nor did I ask for any from my source lol I just know they'll be ok after them 2. I do know the root kid has gotten better and has gotten more confident. They have depth, but it's young, they'll come along.
