Something your parents taught you that you'd never teach to your child/children

Wait...this was actually something you were told growing up?

Mom said it to me a couple of times.

To be fair, she balanced it out with "You never want to be house poor" and other things like that.

That steaks/red meat is unhealthy to eat unless if there's any red/pink in it.

That's a little confusing...are you saying you were told steak needed to be well done or it was bad for you?

Well, the reality is most of us will have debit on a house. But it's definitely the only thing you want to be in debit with if you can help it.

I'm saying that it was risky (i.e. you could get sick/ill) to eat meat that was cooked entirely through...

My dad told me something that I will not repeat here and that I would never repeat or teach children/grand children. It was a very racist comment made when I was a young teenager. Fortunately my dads attitude/thoughts mellowed on the subject over the years, but not as much as it would have been nice to see.

My mom in regards to football:

"If it's not broken, bleeding, or hanging off, you're not coming out of the game."

:lol2:

That sounds like a coach I had, if you lay down on the field you better hope an ambulance is getting you off the field because all you are doing is killing grass.

"Sure, you can lie up in the rear window while I'm driving on the interstate....that will be fun for you."

And along those lines, "jump on up there and hold on tight." This was in regards to riding in the bed of the pickup truck.

I could play outside for hours all day & not come home until dinner time. Then go out again after dinner.

Okay, I would have to inform them where, if staying out past dark.

"You're not getting up from the table until you eat all of your peas and hominy. And if you try, I'll cut off your tallywacker."

That was from my dad's mom when I spent the night with her. I never spent the night with her ever again. :lol2:
