I had always heard that all the NKY coaches were in favor of leaving the system intact with 4 classes. After reading the KY post article, I get the impression that Schneider favored the 6 classes. I think it's because he wants to get away from having to go through Beechwood.

I'm sure that's exactly what it is I'm sure he's stuck around at NCC for this long just waiting for the day when re-alignment would move Beechwood out of his district so that the task of winning would be made easier.

He probably stays for the extra money since the parochial school doesn't have the same type of pension as the public schools.

I don't think Beechwood has anything to do with it.

Last month the KHSAA drafted a six-class proposal and asked the schools for comment. Only four of the respondents objected to adding two classes.

 

"It amazed me how many responses were in favor," said football committee chairman Bob Schneider, who is in his 41st season as coach at Newport Central Catholic.

 

"It's the largest change ever. We went from three classes to four (in 1975), and now we're going to six."

 

The Kentucky High School Athletic Association's board of control voted 15-0 yesterday to add two classes next year.

 

The board originally planned to implement the system for four years, from 2007-10, but decided on just two seasons. Some schools with fluctuating student counts, including Fort Knox, had complained about being stuck in a four-year alignment based on enrollment figures that might already be obsolete.

Sorry if it offends you that I think 6 classes is a joke. I think Mr. spritzky made the same quote in the paper. I think Schneider wants to get away from Beechwood since Beechwood basically owns the series. Sorry if you disagree, but that's your right.

 

Another Factoid: The private schools lag behind when it comes to retirement packages. Thus a longing working life.

I haven't ever thought about it. However, I really don't think that the public private split was ever seriously considered a viable option by the Board of Control.
