Bengals First Depth Chart

Sounds like Kroft sprained his knee and will miss 4-6 weeks. We should know more about Eifert in about 3 weeks but all signs are pointing towards him being available for the regular season. Dennard has a sprained ankle and will probably miss a week or so but should be ready to go.

I'm interested to see if Josh Shaw can jump up the depth chart.

The Cincinnati Bengals look likelier than ever to be without Tyler Eifert to start the 2016 season.

The Pro Bowl tight end had a surgical procedure done on his ankle earlier this summer; the same ankle that Eifert injured in the 2016 Pro Bowl, which was thought to be minor at the time.

But apparently, it was more serious than we all thought even after Eifert had the surgery done. The initial three-month recovery timetable from late May seemed to put Eifert on track to play in Week 1 vs the New York Jets.

And I agree on Shaw. He is a Wildcard of sorts.

I'm not sure I like the depth in the secondary. Very thin.

He may turn out to be a real "life saver".

No pass will get past him with his great leaping ability. Tape those ankles.

Josh Shaw has been working at safety all camp. He is starting to take reps at corner again while corners are banged up currently. I am really high on both he and Smith at safety. Shaw will be used a lot like Crocker was. Crocker was a safety but was used a lot as the corner in the nickel package. So Shaw is basically the 4th corner and safety. Now just like any team if we end up having to use a 5th safety or 5th corner a lot then we will be in trouble just like any other team.

Watch out for Darius Hilary at corner too. He has had an impressive camp and could end up getting that last corner spot.

As for the rest of the depth chart there is not much else to see. Lewis always has veterans ahead of rookies usually on his first depth chart. An example is Brandon Thompson is not even practicing yet and he is still listed in front of Billings. Now obviously the first game of the year that will be different.
