Predict UK's record

Sorry for the long post. However you are right we have to agree to disagree. Because I certainly don't see how you can say UK has no chance to find a coach who could do better than Stoops. If UK once again shows no growth and gets worst as the year goes on.

Stoops seems like a really good guy to have on the staff but kinda looks like a co-star. He's down to his last chance with Gran and Hinshaw, to make him look good.

You are misunderstanding what I am saying. They can find a coach who can do better. They'll just have to hit the lottery to find that coach. No established coach will come to UK. They'll have to find another coordinator type in the same mold as Stoops and pray he does good. Just like folks are hoping Stoops does with his best ever UK football recruiting classes.

Or maybe Charlie Strong will come after Texas fires him after this year.

That's the thing I don't think they need to go the coordinator route at all. That is what I am saying and where they have messed up since Brooks. Getting some guys who have no head coach experience. They need to go for an up and coming mid major Coach who is already a head coach. A successful mid major Coach would come here, even though you don't think so. A guy with head coaching experience is the route they need to go if Stoops doesn't show any improvement this year.

I guess we'll see. I hope I'm wrong.

You've got to give Stoops 7-8 years to build this thing into something decent. We are talking about a program with almost no tradition. A program that averages 2-3 .500 plus seasons per decade. Technically he's only on his 3rd full class. You can't count the first one considering he was here only 2 months before signing day. To dig even deeper this freshman class is his first class that he got to target early in their high school career. As for a prediction for this year I say 6-6 at best, 5-7 again more likely than not and 4-8 at worst. Stoops won't be let go unless he goes 3-9 or worse. It would cost too much money to do so and as PP92 has said, who in the heck are they going to get? The only hope would be to persuade Spurrier to come out of retirement or get lucky as heck with a coordinator. An up and coming non power 5 coach isn't coming here. They go to the schools that have tradition but fired their coach for a 6-6 or 7-5 season. Something UK can only hope to have right now.

Your last part is simply not true. Yes they wouldn't get a coach like Urban Meyer at Utah who was competiting for bcs bowls, or Boise States last head coach. However coaches at like a western Michigan, etc. Do produce good up and coming head coaches and they usually would take a job that gets them into a major conference, because they would then try to use that to help get them to a top school.

I have no idea how some of you act like no chance they could not get someone better. You all do realize it could be a strong possibility that Stoops is not a good head coach and was just a good coordinator. That does happen a lot.

I am on record saying I think uk makes a bowl this year. Meaning I think Stoops does better. However I am also saying if they get worst as the season goes on and goes bowl less again then yes they definitely should consider making a change.

No reason why UK can't win 6. Again SC, Mizzu and Vandy are MAC programs right now.

Plus Miss State is projected to finish last in the West, UK has a golden opportunity with this schedule.

In my opinion UK is just as much a MAC programs as SC, Mizzou and Vandy are right now.

I was gonna say... What exactly propels UK above those programs?

Better players for the daily double...

Better because they play for an "SEC" team?

Their recruiting classes are a few years in now. And Stoops went out and got Gran to stop him from messing things up.

Guys that did the UK season preview on the SEC Network have the Cats going 7-5.

On a side note, they picked us to go 8-4 on the same preview show last year.

I'm sticking with 5-7.

That is my point. You act like if UK fired Stoops, they wouldn't be able to get anyone. Just like in the case with Stoops, all coaches have big ego's and think their way of coaching will be the way that works. Which is why Stoops took the UK job because he thought he had what it takes to turn it around. Which UK was in a lot worst place after Joker than they would be after Stoops if they fired him.

Which for UK to be a stepping stone job, a coach would have to come in and be successful. The last 2 years Stoops teams have got worst as the year went on and not better. Which is why I said if we see the same thing again, then you have to look into getting rid of him. UK would be a more attractive job than it was after Joker, because Stoops did recruit better, he just hasn't shown to coach them up well yet. So for a young up and coming head coach with experience at a smaller school it would be attractive. People would see some talent here, and know if they get UK to a bowl game they would be beloved while here at UK, and more importantly for them. It would look good on their resume for getting a better job after UK, for being a coach that got UK to bowl games. Just like if Rich Brooks wasn't so old at the time, and he was younger he probably would have had a chance to leave UK for a better job too.

Getting rid of Stoops would not completely kill this program like you say it would. Hopefully Stoops does well this year, which I think they will be a bowl team. My point is if they are like they were the last 2 years, then you have to strongly consider making a change.

If they fire Stoops after this year do you think they need to put the full court press on Jeff Brohm?

I'm still a Stoops guy but if they decide to let him go I'd love to see them go after Brohm.
