Until Nov. 8th Big Donald is the face of the party, and if he wins for 4-8 years.

The nominating process didnt yield a true R because the votes were all splintered up by a few that stayed in the race too long . That left the door open for a guy like Trump to sneak in . But he isnt the face of my party .

 

Any thoughts on the topic of this thread (which, btw, is NOT who the head of the republican party is)?

John McCain says it best, IMO:

There really isnt one .. and yes the party is in a mess . But I'd rather be in a mess because democracy is at work than be part of a party who didnt really have a true process to elect a nominee . ( Hopefully I don't get called out for my answer not being part of the topic at hand , all BPG users are so good at staying on topic but sometimes I get off topic )

Additionally it pretty obvious the liberal wing of BGP is attempting to assign The Donald as head of the R's while the R's are saying " No thanks " .

The VFW's statement:

 

"Election year or not, the VFW will not tolerate anyone berating a Gold Star family member for exercising his or her right of speech or expression," VFW leader Brian Duffy said in the statement.

"There are certain sacrosanct subjects that no amount of wordsmithing can repair once crossed. Giving one's life to [one's] nation is the greatest sacrifice, followed closely by all Gold Star families, who have a right to make their voices heard," he said.

You know, the topic of who the leader of the R party is or should be is a GREAT topic. It would make for a great thread of it's own.

 

What I am seeing here is that there is really NO defense for what Trump said as no one is defending him. The only thing that can be done is to deflect it.

I dont agree with what he said either , he has a habit of sticking feet ( plural) in his rather large mouth and if it were not for the weakness of the D candidate we wouldnt be talking about Donald. I'm no fan of the guy , just to be clear.

Who do you think the average person, not just republican's, thinks of when the party is brought up?

 

If your an average person who watches cable news you would say Trump.

 

The elite will disown him unless he wins, then they will race to get on board. The Republican party has we know it is gone.

 

The elites on both sides created these two candidates and now they have to live with them.

He's possibly doing irreparable harm to the Republican Party, even if it manages to survive its fracturing. Paul Ryan and a litany of others have sold their souls to support him, which will look spineless and shameful in sobered hindsight.

 

As much as people disagreed with Bush's policies and decision-making, can anyone imagine him responding to this family in such a contemptuous way? This is the new face of the Republican Party.

 

And that's just his character. His interview with ABC yesterday was a smorgasbord of nonsense, but that's for another day.

 

I believe you to be correct on all counts. Particularly the bold. The man is vile.

I've felt this from the beginning, the dad was very aggressive towards Trump, you could see it coming.

 

Clinton called Pat Smith a liar, then she shut up. Trump can't stop, that's the difference.

If you'll recall, Trump said that McCain was "only" a war hero because he was captured. That was after saying that he wasn't a war hero at all.

Trump is a vile, reprehensible loathsome person and I hold him in higher regard then Hillary.

Trump is vile and there's simply no defending it.

 

THIS! This a thousand times over, this is all that needs to be said and it looked at.

 

As was mentioned, Trump just doesn't know when to shut up, sadly he doubles down on it, and what's also bad is that he refuses to appologize, for this and many other things.

 

This family like so many others suffered a great deal, and they had family that gave the ultimate sacrifice, something that Trump can't seem to comprehend.
