July 30, 201610 yr Both have name recognition out the wazoos so no advantage there. Both are cursed with the more people see and hear them, the more they dislike them. If they could keep it to issues Hillary will kill Donald. My best case scenario is that they both bail out and Gary Johnson gets invited and has the podium to himself for a couple hours.
July 30, 201610 yr I have said for a while that I believe Hillary will find a reason to avoid debating. She been very reticent to take questions from reporters. In fairness though I must say I'm shocked she's doing a sit-down with Chris Wallace on Sunday.
July 30, 201610 yr What advantage does a particular date give her? No idea, unless she didn't want a lot of people to watch it. The candidate leading generally has the most to lose in a debate, I could see the front runner wanting the debates at times and on dates that people would likely want to watch something else.

Wallace said some nice things about Clinton last week, so a one on one with him may be perceived as worth the risk to be able to reach out to conservative voters who despise Trump.

I am of the opinion - and I hope I'm wrong - the the debates will be little more than glorified shouting matches. For some, that's must-see TV. For me, not so much. That is a sad comment coming from someone with your knowledge and age. Something is wrong with the United States and we somehow need to restore faith, dignity, trust and loyalty to our countrymen and allies. Someone needs to explain to me how a person can register to vote in the presidential election and not need papers to prove citizenship. Do any of you in your 50's and 60's remember the three types of proof we had to present at the clerk's office to register to vote? If not for us, at least for our children and grandchildren.

He will have to be in attack mode, focusing on the email scandal and asking Hillary why she lied about it, Benghazi, and the other things he likes to point out. He can point out her missteps in areas like foreign policy but I don't think he can sustain a response to a question like, "What would you do differently?" I expect he'd say, "Well, I wouldn't do what Hillary did, believe me." He doesn't seem interested in policy enough to have a discussion on it. I am sorry I am so pessimistic concerning Trump.

Pretty much my expectations. Trump will constantly slam Clinton, and he has an uncanny ability to do that in these debates, while Clinton will talk circles around him when it comes to policy. Trump appears unaware and uninterested in how governing works. I don't know how that would play for either of them. I suspect the formal and stoic nature of these things would be a disadvantage for Trump in that regard, but I can see both of them being willing to refuse to do it and be content pointing the finger at the other. It's unadulterated speculation, but that's what I think.

July 30, 201610 yr It was not my intent to call anyone out, I'm not real sure what that means. I was just commenting on his post which surprised me by sounding so jaded. I think McPapa can hold his own, no disrespect intended. By the way, I'm a Clint fan, liked the chair. May not have been a speech, but it will be remembered by each of us for different reasons.

July 31, 201610 yr Author Trump said the NFL agrees with him a d sent him a letter saying they didn't want the debates to be up against the NFL. NFL issued a statement saying there was no letter sent.
