This. It's about our demographics and candidates. Black people and women are a much larger part of the population compared to gay people. Also----I think there are far more Blacks and women in politics than gay people, thus limiting the candidate pool.

This generation of young people are extremely tolerant and open minded; however, they are going have to raise voting age kids to outnumber the old school ideas about homosexuality.

 

I really don't see all what your seeing. Is their gay haters sure there are, but American is not full of all the stuff you paint.

 

If you had a openly gay person THIS year who had all the makings of an outstanding president they would/could win easily against these two.

 

Painting or politics with these broad brushes needs to stop. A good person is a good person, a bad person is a bad person.

Hopefully by the time there is it's such a non-issue that nobody cares one way or another. If it were to be considered a big deal, while it would represent a progression in our society's acceptance, the idea that it would much matter would somehow still point to certain sense of cultural superficiality.

 

With that said I know that I'd be idealist to think that the first time around for something like this wouldn't garner much attention as it typically takes baby steps for our culture to move forward, but further down the road I suppose that it does seem plausible that eventually nobody would bat a lash.

I'll say about 20 years before America would be ready. Not sure when it will happen.

Barack Obama had a historic milestone when he broke the barrier for African Americans. Hillary Clinton has a pretty good chance to break the barrier for women.

I don't know how you figured that's what I meant. My point is that the voting public will go for symbolism over substance. Democratic Party has become exactly that. I don't care what anyone's sexual preference is, I care if they're good for the country or not.
