Top 10 candidates for 2016 Kentucky Mr. Football - Jason Frakes

Featured Replies

"Many of the top recruits in this year’s senior class are linemen, but those guys don’t have a history of winning this award. Since Mr. Football was first handed out in 1986, 25 of the 30 winners have come from the following positions – quarterbacks (14), running backs (seven), wide receivers (three) and tight ends (one)."

Fant and Quick were 2 of the 3 WRs, who was the other? And who was the TE?

I think the TE was Frank Jacobs. But I could be wrong.

Montrell Jones was the other WR

Dante Hendrix from Cooper should be on the list

Frakes kind of mailed this one in

Simply went by D-1 offers and then through in the guy that will be KY's All-Time leader in Receiving

Then again...usually that criteria covers the Finalists..... so maybe it is pretty accurate after all

Dante Hendrix should be on that list. He should have been on the finalist list last year after leading most of the year the entire state in receiving yards and finishing 2nd with receiving TD's. He did this all with a first year QB. Same hurdle he has facing him this year as he will once again for his 3rd year in a row have a first time starting QB throwing to him.

I think unfortunately this comes down to who has the big offers so far.

Hopefully by the end of the season the rest of the state will know who he is.

I still like the BGP Watch List's First 15 names...

OL/DL Cole Bentley, Belfry

DB/WR Jairus Brent, Waggener (Jr.)

RB/DB Trajon Bright, Mayfield

RB Jamale Carothers, Bowling Green

WR/DB Keyron Catlett, Christian County

WR/DB CJ Hayes, South Warren

QB/DB Rex Henderson, Butler County

WR/DB Dante Hendrix, Cooper

DL RayQuan Horton, Belfry

WR Jake Johnson, Pulaski County

QB Tanner Morgan, Ryle

QB Cameron Racke, Simon Kenton

QB Desmond Ridder, St. Xavier

OL Jedrick Wills, Lafayette

QB Walker Wood, Lafayette

I thought only Seniors could win the award. If so, he couldn't have been on the list last year.

No, not any more. I posted a link to an article about that.

Riley Hall for Pulaski was a finalist his Jr Year.

If BG Purples go 15-0 and Jamale Caruthers become their alltime leading scorer, I would think that he could/should be leading candidate.

Add to the fact that he is a top-shelf student and next fall we'll be serving our country at the Naval Academy

Well the one who should be on the list but isn't, Dante Hendrix, in tonight's scrimmage in just the first half had his first 2 catches which were both TD's of 60+ yards and 40+ yards respectfully.

Don't know how he did after that, the heat beat me so I had to leave with 3 mins left in the 1st half with Cooper up 21-0

what if South goes undefeated and Litten puts up big numbers and finishes high school career 43-1.stats this year could be 25-30 pass TDs 20-25 rushing TDs 4000total yards
