An advisor to Trump said that HRC should "be shot" and it's hardly made news much less resulted in said adviser being canned. He's advocating for a person to be shot and it barely causes a ripple? That's on us.

I don't know what you missed, but to claim that the only thing that was talked about was anti-HRC, is just wrong. There were personal stories shared about Trump. Stories about why people felt he was the best fit. Stories outlining the current situation our nation is in. The official nomination of Trump as the Republican candidate. Was there some anti-HRC? Yes, of course. But is that really all that uncommon? Also, is it mandated anywhere that the platform has to be discussed at all times?

 

As far as why the theme was "Make America Work Again" I don't really know. There was some talk about the unemployment rate, but most of the night was focused around personal accounts of Trump and why he would make the better president.

Had Trump lost and pulled that stunt at the Cruz convention I'd be saying the same thing.

 

In a nut shell Cruz proved what a career politician acts like last night. Cruz like so many others on both sides, need to quit get a real job and quit living off me.

 

Dead wrong! A career politician gets in lock step with the party and says whatever he is told to say. That ain't Cruz. He is what "the common man" has claimed he wants. What "the common man" is proving that he actually wants, is a person whose rhetoric sounds like one side of a polemical argument at the lunch table in Middle School.

 

I assume you mean the R platform that has not been discussed thus far in Cleveland? Have we heard any "platform" other than "send her to jail?"

 

So far, Pence gave the speech that should inspire Republicans. Disclaimer: I did not hear Ryan. Too bad it is overshadowed by Cruz's non-support of Trump. Pence laid out conservative principles by which to govern. It draws a sharp distinction between the Republican party and the liberal Dems. I liked what he had to say.

 

I didn't say she wasn't. But you can't come up in here spouting things like "integrity" and "honror a pledge" and crap, and then say you support Trump. This thread is about the RNC. There will be plenty of time to take shots at HRC next week. Don't play diversionary tactics to deflect people from looking at the Trump/Pence ticket. If he (Trump) can throw shade at Cruz and his family and all are OK with it, then by God, I'm taking the gloves off and stating what I think about him without reservation.

Oh, I heard personal account stories such as him writing cute notes on report cards. That's effective as it humanizes someone most people dislike.

 

What's the purpose of the convention these days? Is it to inspire undecideds to vote for a candidate? If so, other than cute stories has there really been any reason given to vote FOR Trump other than "he's not Hillary?"

 

Maybe the purpose now is to be good TV or to shore up the base but if they're trying to get undecideds, women, or minorities they've gone about it the wrong way.

 

Maybe we'll see the same next week in Philly. Maybe the theme will be "well she ain't Trump so...."

 

And we'll be no further along than we were before Monday.

Do i like everything he has said and done? No. As I stated, I think he should have stayed home and not spoken but I have no problem that he did not explicitly endorse Trump. I would be disappointed if he did.

I think humanizing Trump, especially after he has been drug through the mud almost to an unprecedented extent, is exactly what needs to be done right now.

 

Various reasons to vote for Trump have been given. Hes a strong willed, business oriented leader who has been actively involved in created jobs through his numerous companies. He wants to strengthen borders and rebuild a "diminished" military. He wants to renegotiate trade deals and shore up our education system. All of this among other goals, in one form or another, have been touched on throughout the convention.

The paper may be "silly", but integrity is a central point of this whole sheebang going forward and it's a matter of principle.

Only happened once. When Trump's Big Mac was missing along with half his fries, he assigned Christie to the trash detail and now Christie only disposes of the garbage after Trump's munchies have been satiated.
