SnottieDrippen Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Normally I'm a shirt and tie guy when it comes to weddings, but an outdoor wedding and reception next week is causing uncertainty. The ceremony itself won't be terrible, as I'm not the type to break a sweat while seated, regardless of temperature, but the reception presents an issue. I dance my butt off from the time I finish eating until they shut the venue down. Given this information, any pro tips from the seasoned vets?

Take an extra dress shirt that's the same style and color? I'm assuming reception is outdoor as well?
Clyde Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I'm old school - always wear a suit and tie or sports coat/tie to a wedding. I, too, love to get at it on the dance floor. You're going to be hot no matter what. Discard the jacket, loosen the tie, unbutton the top button, and work it.
SnottieDrippen Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Looks that way. Hadn't thought about a spare.

Randy Parker Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 If they want a gift, I'll wear what I want. My man.
sweet16 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Outdoor wedding and I don't wear a shirt and tie. Usually go wth a polo.
5 STAR Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 My invitations included what to wear and what to bring. They were told that the proper attire was cut off shorts and either T shirts or wife beater shirts. They were to bring as many fishing poles and as much bait as they could carry. We obviously had the wedding in the back yard on a partly cloudy day. It was mostly cloudy and no rain, but the second my soon to be bride stepped out of the house, the bright sunshine came out with perfect timing. I think everybody had a great time at the reception, but there was a lot more fishing going on than dancing.

Jim Schue Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Take a pair of shorts, a T-shirt and some tennis shoes for when the groovin' gets going.
Habib Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Wear a lighter weight suit in cotton, like seersucker.
woodsrider Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 You can always discard the jacket and tie once the reception starts. Roll up the sleeves when the dancing begins.
littleluck55 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 I am starting to like the idea of theme weddings. I've seen 2 this year where they asked for one for everyone to wear a jersey from their favorite sports team. And everything with the wedding was sports related. And the second wedding was at a farm and they asked everyone to wear a country outfit (overalls, boots, jeans, etc).
