Tim Duncan to Retire

Featured Replies

5 championships in 1998-99, 2002-03, 2004-05, 2006-07 and 2013-14. That's pretty damn impressive to have a title in each of the last 3 decades.

Not sure that anyone else has ever done that. Cool stat.

John Salley is the only other guy

1989-Pistons

1990-Heat

1996-Bulls

2000-Lakers

Duncan is the only guy to do it all with the same team.

Which is even more impressive!

I would agree...all it says about Salley is that he played a long time, and was in the right place at the right time a few years.

IMO...I wish there were more like him in the NBA. Just played the game.

Agree!

Wish more youngsters would follow suit.

Duncan and the Admiral- two of my all-time favorites. No wonder I grew to love the Spurs(the only Texas anything that I ever rooted for). Class personified.

I will miss Duncan. The NBA needs more Tim Duncan type players but they just don't come around to often. We may never see a player like him.

Among the more emotional aspects of Tim Duncan Day: Sources say San Antonio had to officially waive him Monday for salary-cap reasons #rough

He was the leader of the 2004 Olympic team that won silver. I'll never forgive him for that.

Same.

Bronze

Damn shame.

That's not something I will hold against him. However, I was surprised that he didn't want to do what his former teammate The Admiral did and go again to get gold. I believe Robinson got Bronze with Thompson sr. as the coach and got Gold with the dream team in 92' and again in 96'.
