July 8, 201610 yr BGP is a special place, and a large part of the credit for that goes to the membership. This community is a true melting pot. Our membership made up of a very diverse collection of individuals. And through all that diversity and individuality, when all are collected here in the BGP playground, the result is a shining example of unity and closeness. We still have our own opinions, but we seem to have a like-mindedness of purpose that allows us (for the most part) to share them and respect those who may not agree. Surely we can all agree that the whole is much greater than the sum of our parts. That is something that doesn't happen by accident and the real credit goes to theguru and the moderators and administrators. I have been privileged to have been a part of the moderation and the administration of this site and as such I have a unique perspective. I can't express all the ways that I have been awed by the incredible group of people who volunteer their time to provide this venue and keep it enjoyable for everyone. Every one of them are just good solid people. They put their heart into making decisions that best benefit BGP and the members. Without their guidance and solid decision making, forums like this can become a free-for-all. It is their personal touch that keeps the wheels on the track and the train moving forward. I'm glad Bluto started this thread as it gave me a chance to say Kudos to an incredibly special group of people.
July 9, 201610 yr I agree, Bluto. This is the best site of its kind and the moderators do a great job keeping it that way. I was a mod about 7 years ago, for a very short while, so I have some knowledge of their job and what they do to keep all things running efficiently. A big thanks as well from me to the guru and his staff of moderators for what they do!

He used to post the Chapstick to poke fun at someone "kissing-up", so to speak. Albeit, he didn't really think they were doing so, just him having fun with people. You don't remember that? He zinged me a few times with it.

You don't remember that? He zinged me a few times with it. What confused me is I had just seen your "Like" of my squirrel post on BF's fb page. And I was trying to make a connection between squirrels and chapstick! Then I realized what thread we were actually in, and it made sense.
