June 16, 201610 yr Some are so terrified of change it's unbelievable. Yep. It's fear-mongering at it's finest IMO.
June 16, 201610 yr Bad idea. We have forgotten the reasons why the constitution was written as it was written. We have forgotten the lessons of history. The document we would draw up now would be terribly flawed and would end in more government power, perhaps centralized government, and a loss of liberty. "We the people..." would be replaced by "The elite whom we have empowered to rule over us..." The principles of limited government and liberty for the people hold today as much as they ever did. The Constitution was written by the elite of that time, and a largely drafted to protect their interests. The whole electoral college system was designed to make sure the masses couldn't completely control who was elected President. And at the time, the voting class didn't include non property owners, slaves, Native Americans or women..if you weren't a rich white guy, you had no interests that were protected since you couldn't vote, and those classes were completed excluded from the drafting of the constitution. Many of the founding fathers were pretty candid that only the "rich, well born and able" (John Adams words) should lead this country. When Joe Six-Pack has a chance to run for and win a high level, government position, then maybe we can say we have a government that is truly run by the people. The elite/rich have always been the ruling class in this country.
June 16, 201610 yr Not to the Islamic Radicals it isn't. True. Their delusional thinking is the major issue right now.

I dunno, seems like we are already being ruled by the rich, elite powerful people we have empowered.
June 16, 201610 yr Exactly. To me it is kind of similar to race cars used in NASCAR that are banned from being on regular streets. Driving a car isn't a constitutional right. Who gets to decide which guns are on and which ones aren't, for law abiding citizens i mean...because we all know criminals aren't going to care about restrictions. They don't now, they won't ever.
June 16, 201610 yr Some are so terrified of change it's unbelievable. Others are okay with change only when it fits their agenda. Guns aren't the problem in America. Terrorists and criminals are.
June 16, 201610 yr I dunno, seems like we are already being ruled by the rich, elite powerful people we have empowered. And always have been. Although it's questionable as to whether we empowered them, or they empowered themselves.
June 16, 201610 yr I've said it before and I'll say it again. The United States has changed so much since 1776 that the entire constitution needs to be repealed/amended/edited/rewritten. No one can convince me that in 2016 and beyond that we should be living under rules made 240 years ago. That's asinine. I'll also add that if folks were going around having mass shootings like they are now when the constitution was initially drafted then there wouldn't be a second amendment saying you have a right to bear arms. To think there still would have been is naive. Couldn't disagree more. The Constitution has served us well for 240 years. It has made us the greatest nation on Earth. To scrap it would be asinine. There is a way to amend it. It's been done 27 times. The first 10 Amendments are the Bill of Rights. Not a bill of suggestions.

June 16, 201610 yr Some are so terrified of change it's unbelievable. This, but also I dont trust the people who will be changing them either.
June 16, 201610 yr Others are okay with change only when it fits their agenda. Guns aren't the problem in America. Terrorists and criminals are. And others are okay with shooting down suggestions and stifling conversation while searching for some kind of change and resolution. All is well though, screw it. I hope none of us are around next time an American born radicalized Islamist on the No Fly list decides to shoot up the spot with his 2nd Amendment protected gun. Carry on!!!!!!! Don't mind us!!!!
June 16, 201610 yr This, but also I dont trust the people who will be changing them either. Well you're just screwed then. Can't trust the people with guns. Can't trust the people to regulate the guns. May as well get to building that bunker and hiding underground to stay safe.
June 16, 201610 yr And always have been. Although it's questionable as to whether we empowered them, or they empowered themselves. Well, we did vote them into office over and over and over.
