A Steep Price to Pay for 20 Minutes of Action

Little different story. Initially sounded as if you just happened upon a group of random kids, not that you were somehow responsible for that group somehow.

It was a group of students that I met with every couple of weeks, to help them do community service projects. I sometimes had 14-20 12-14 year olds, boys and girls. So now you understand my situation. :thumb:

The judge will no longer preside over criminal trials.

CA senate has approved a measure calling for mandatory sentencing for cases like this.

Mandatory sentencing should occur in every violent criminal conviction.

You down with 3 strikes laws too?

I'm for people who are convicted of violent crimes to serve set jail times! You down with that?

I hate mandatory sentence on any crime.

I can't imagine being the father of the victim. I think I would have to take action. Only 20 minutes or so...

You didn't answer my question, but I can answer yours. Yes, but I'm not down for arbitrary stuff like mandatory sentencing and 3 strikes laws. Your turn.

Don't really know enough about 3 strike laws and their effectiveness. There should be nothing arbitrary with mandatory sentences. Sentences should be thought out and consistent. You do the crime, you do the time! Way to many repeat violent felons walking our streets today!

Since you strike me as a "law and order" type, do yourself a favor and research 3-strikes laws and the mandatory sentencings that go with them. It's not pretty what those laws have done to exacerbate problems in already impoverished communities.

Yes I believe in law and order. I have researched mandatory sentencing and I believe that violent crimes deserve mandatory prison time.

I don't believe in mandatory sentencing for non-violent crimes such as drug offenses. I will research the 3 strikes laws.

Just out of curiosity, if you don't believe in law and order what's the alternative?

As much as this case disgusts me I cannot support mandatory sentencing.
