Bishop Brossart High School is happy to announce and introduce our new girls basketball head coach, Kevin Bundy. Coach Kevin Bundy joined the boys’ basketball staff as Varsity Assistant Coach in the 2007-08 Season. He just finished in his ninth year with the Mustangs. In addition to his work with the boys program, Coach Bundy served four seasons as the junior varsity coach at Simon Kenton and Highlands where he compiled a 73-23 record. He began his coaching career at Lloyd High School and worked on the same staff under Bill Code, with Mike Code for five seasons. His 2006 Simon Kenton JV team won the 32nd District Championship. The same season he coached the freshmen team to a school record 17 wins, and captured the district tournament. He was a varsity assistant on the 8th Region Runner-up team as well. Coach Bundy spent eight seasons as a varsity assistant at Highlands under Coach John Messmer. During that time, the Bluebirds won four 9th Region Championships. Coach Bundy has also coached high school aged AAU boys basketball teams during eight summers. All eight of those teams advanced to the Division I AAU National championship tournament. Coach Bundy's AAU teams won the Kentucky State Championship in 2000 (15 and under) and 2006 (16 and under). His 2007 team was the state runner-up in the 17 and under age group.

There will be a meeting this Tuesday, May 31st in the cafeteria for parents and players to officially meet Coach Bundy. The first night of open gym will be June 2nd at 7pm. Anyone interested in playing girls basketball during the 2016-17 school year is invited to attend. If you cannot attend the meeting, please let me know and I will pass along your information to Coach Bundy.

Great hire for the Stangs.

This is great. Very well-respected coach and man.

Congratulations to Coach Bundy. One of the good guys in this business. This hire is also good for our Campbell boys program. We now might actually have a chance to beat the Mustangs this coming season.

Congrats Coach Bundy!

Excellent hire Brossart.

Congratulations Coach Bundy! Excellent choice to represent the program and school. As a young AD, Mr Franzen is proving his ability to make the right choices.

I'm glad someone likes him. I have a differing point of view from many years back. Hope the hire works out well for BB.

Great hire for the program. Will miss Kevin on the sidelines of the boys program. Mr. Franzen has done an excellent job as AD. You hit the nail on the head that he is proving to make the right choices. I want to thank him for everything he has done for BBHS.

Hold grudges much?

Very good hire for Brossart! Bundy deserves the chance to be a head coach. Congratulations to Bundy, a really good guy. Some of the Campbell County HS crowd will spew their expected venom, but Bundy is a great choice!

Lots of people like Bundy. What is your problem with him as a coach?

Congrats to Coach Bundy.

This is really a cheap shot at a quality individual. I consider myself a pretty good judge of character and have worked alongside of Kevin for the past nine years and would want my own son to play under him. He has nothing but been an asset to the boys program and anything said to the contrary borders on blasphemus.

He must have slapped a T on you in the black top league?

Both my boys played and excelled because of coach Bundy. Including one on a full ride in which coach Bundy had a huge impact on making it happen.

Yea, Bandit should be banned from BGP on that surly, unwarranted comment alone. Would love to hear his story about Bundy.

Kevin is a great guy and I couldn't be happier for him and the young Lady Mustangs. Brossart made an excellent decision.

Now the real question is, does the Blacktop League go on as planned moving forward? :bunny:
