Cavs/Raptors Eastern Conference Finals

Featured Replies

Guys, the North doesn't have enough horsepower to contend. I'd be shocked if this wasn't a sweep.

As for tonight, I'm glad Shumpert didn't tear his knee up. That looked painful.

LeBron didn't have to play so hard he thought a jumper was the best option.

Channing Frye was the best deadline deal this season.

JR and Dion Waiters plying under control in the same playoffs?!?! Waiters used to be a Cav ya know?

Kevin Love just has to play ok this series for a nice rest before the winner limps out of the West.

Cavs defense is worrisome. Way too many open threes allowed for my taste, though you don't have to play Toronto the same way you play GS.

I had planned on watching the 2nd half. Saw the score, watched three minutes and turned on something else. Maybe next game.

Cavs are firing on all cylinders and seem motivated.

Will they be the favorite over GS or OKC? Have to think so. LBJ kept Cleveland in the series with GS last year without Kyrie and Love.

I think they should be the favorite coming off a three series bye to the Finals. Golden State would be a slight betting favorite though.

Is this somehow the easiest match up for the Heat so far? Raps will be lucky to win a game.

Especially being injury riddled with the services of a rim protector.

I think the NBA seriously needs to consider doing away with the playoff format. LeBron deserves much of the credit for tipping the scales in how he does in the East - especially by hoarding talent on one team - but more than half of the credit goes to the lack of quality. How much better would it be if Golden State was playing OKC or Cleveland in this round with the Spurs taking on the other? I would put Toronto at #7 overall behind Golden State, San Antonio, Cleveland, OKC, Clippers, and Portland.

Thats not realistic. There's not a professional sports league where the two conferences play each other before the Final series. It destroys the point of having separate conferences. Though it would eliminate the all star game, so it's not a total loss.

Also, are your overall rankings from prior to the playoffs?

I get it, and why it doesn't make sense, it just offends my sensibilities that conferences can exist with a clear differentiation in annual strength. Especially at the top.

Yes. Just general power rankings. Maybe swap Toronto a spot, but did anyone really believe they were ready for the big time? Same for Atlanta last year, Indiana before that...

What we seem to have here is a lack of competence in front offices or, more conspiratorially, the league, in conjunction with ESPN, dictates who is successful.

Personally, I cite the first explanation. Maybe because I don't want to believe the NBA is the same as WWE. Maybe because I see teams like Philly and Brooklyn making no progress in building an NBA team. Maybe teams like Philly and Brooklyn aren't making progress because the league doesn't want them to.

Either way, this is an issue with the suits, not the players.

You can tout how great LeBron/The Cavs have been this post season as long as in the same statement you acknowledge how much of a joke the East is...

If I was Lue, I would bench LeBron until the Finals.

Cavs would be favorites over Thunder probably but not the Warriors Imo. Quite honestly if the Warriors were in the East they probably would be undefeated in the playoffs so far too with or without Curry. The east is a cake walk. Shoot the injury plagued Heat even took the Raptors to game 7. While the Cavs have looked great, the competition they have played so far would at best be a 7 seed in the west.

Blasphemy.

Last year the series was 4-2 Golden State with the Cavs not having Irving or Love.

Considering game 1 was lost by the Cavs in OT, Lebron missing a last second shot, I give the edge to the Cavs in the finals over whoever they are playing. If you are picking a starting 5 off the teams it would probably look like this

1 PG Irving

2 SG Curry

3 SF Love/Green toss up

4 PF James

5. C Thompson

I think the most talent is with the Cavs BUT the warriors play so well as a team can they do it again?

not to mention a horrible T/O that lead to 2 points he did get fouled however, a missed lay-up, and a foul putting them in bonus, in all lost 6 points by himself in last 3 minutes, may have been tired
