May 17, 201610 yr It will be interesting to see the suspensions and fines handed out on this one. Only estimate I've seen is Odor in the 10 to 15 game range. I imagine there will be a few more.
May 17, 201610 yr I'm not back-peddling. There was nothing wrong with the slide. A catcher blocks home-plate and the runner is ruled safe as a result. The blocking of the plate is illegal, but it's not dirty. Same thing as with this slide. If there is nothing wrong with it then why is it illegal?
May 17, 201610 yr Baseball Lords™ on Twitter: "Odor, what is this? ?☕️ https://t.co/RkY3mlUlLM" Just shows that the guys Odor slid into are pansies lol jk
May 18, 201610 yr Author If there is nothing wrong with it then why is it illegal? I don't know. It wouldn't be if I could make the rules, but I can't. Clearly I'm in the minority on it, but I'm not going to change my opinion just because everyone else disagrees with me.
May 19, 201610 yr Rangers were chicken bleep for waiting to last AB to plunk Bautista. If you're going to hit him, do it the next time you see him and get it out of the way. Joey Bats' slide was late and intended to send a message. Not surprising and well within the code. Odor was well within the code to both submarine the throw to 1B (in the hopes of hitting / scaring him / forcing him down earlier) and pushing Joey Bats when he got up and came at him. Odor got 8 games because he, unlike most baseball players, knows how to throw a punch and is more than willing to do so. Does anyone think Bautista wasn't going to throw a punch if he had the opportunity? If I am Odor and I am in that position, I throw the 1st punch 100 times out of 100. Bluejays manager got 3 games for coming back on the field after being ejected earlier (Bryce Harper rule). I can see both sides of that and I'm OK w/ 3 games.
