Again, you are being inconsistent. Old school baseball says you flip a bat like he did in the playoffs and you get nailed in the ribs. You slide hard into a defender behind the base you risk getting punched. Either be against both or OK with "old school" baseball.

I'm not being inconsistent. If a slide is a dirty slide, let the umps eject the guy and move on. If it's not, play ball and move on. There's no need for the tit-for-tat garbage that is the idiocy of old-school baseball.

I never said the HBP wasn't cheap or dirty. I just understand the history and how emotions factor in.

Because everything you said was ridiculous. Bautista is a baseball player. Calling him a rookie for not expecting to get punched in the face is ridiculous. His slide was the typical break-up the double play slide. He did nothing wrong. Trying to place blame on his is beyond ridiculous.

 

Nothing typical about sliding that late. He was basically on top of the bag when he slid with the intention of taking Odor out.

I'm not a big fan of unwritten baseball rules even though I played and have coached high level baseball for most of my life. There's sliding hard and there's sliding dirty trying to hurt someone. You try to hurt someone, you better prepared to fight. If a guys being a jerk and you hit him in the ribs or rear end, it's childish, but I'm ok with it. You throw a heater at his grill, I'm also ok if he comes after you. There's a difference between playing hard and playing dirty. Getting hit in the ribs doesn't make it ok to try to take out someone's knees. Bautista deserves eating Odor's fist in this case.
