Mayfield By The Numbers

Featured Replies

The past 7 year run by Mayfield is an incredible stretch of football and rivals anything that we have ever seen in Kentucky over the short span. They have played a challenging schedule, taking on some big boys along the way, and the results are evident.

I wanted to give them a shout out and a tip of the cap. Well done, Cardinals. Here are a few of the numbers, some of them are mind boggling when you let them sink in. This is just some of the numbers I put together from a very brief look at the results. Feel free to add to the list if you have anything significant to add.

I don't know which one is more impressive.

Excellent thread Toots!

Mayfield is great case study for KY high school football.

Go Cards!

This is why they are in the Top 5 in All-Time wins IN THE COUNTRY!

Way to go Mayfield!!!!!

It is sad to see what they are able to accomplish and not see that from other schools of similar size and resources, tip of the cap to them.

They can truly use this motto

"Tradition doesn't graduate"

If you add since the 6 class system has been then they are 114-17 since 2007.

Wow, good job watusi! I know that for the last 40 years you can count on one hand the number of times that we have not played in the semifinals. Amazing consistency.

2008 saw the worst results for the Cards since the early 1970's or the numbers would be much better

Many here in Cardinal Nation feel that this years team will be special even among the last 7 years teams.

That's still good numbers.

You are so correct and it is weird how I look at it and think if only 2008 had not been a train wreck when I should be appreciative of the greatness in the run we are on. I have often thought that the dismal 2008 season had a lot to do with the current success. Morris and staff had been toying with a modified spread since the 2005 title loss to NCC but understandable, it seemed like it was hard for Morris to trust a shift in offensive strategy. After all MF had already won so many state titles with the run oriented offense. Game 2 of the 2009 campaign saw MF fall quickly behind Trousdale County, TN, a team that was on a 2 year win streak. After a quarter of play the Cards were down big, I think it was by 20 or 21 and Morris let his young, green OC loose with the spread and shockingly the Cards came back to win 48-40 and the spread was here to stay. Morris may see it differently but that is the way I have always felt we got to the modified spread and that has been huge in the current success.

Thanks Watusi for throwing the praise onto my Cardinals

Every team has down years.

My hazard team is 100-24 since the 6 class set up and have never dropped below the 3rd round of the playoffs.

Belfry is 111-20 since the 6 class set up.
