Athough it is funny and made me laugh it comes off as sour grapes/bitter.

 

Not bitter at all. I use to be. Back in my kids KBA days I told the Pulaski parents to have fun winning all of your middle school championships with hold backs, but how many state championship trophys does the high school have in their trophy case because of it. I now realize it's about trying to get that free education.

I wish our in state schools had this approach. I know there are very few that Rick and Cal feel can play at their levels, but no reason Morehead, Murray, EKU, WKU, etc... shouldn't be recruiting the heck out of KY.

Yes that is one way and the other way is, if that is their best players then their recruiting is bad and that is why they are no good. Alabama has far more talent in state than Kentucky.

 

Samford just got Justin Coleman from Alabama and that will be an immediate impact.

I'm just saying there are KY kids that are good enough every year to be recruited by our in state schools. With juco's and all the D1 transfers, many D1 programs fill their rosters without taking HS kids. In many cases hs kids can't contribute for 2 or 3 years or in some cases never.

 

If I'm running a low to mid level D1 program, my core group each year would come via transfers.

I think Samford is a notch below though some of the instate schools, I think they're using a low major recruiting philosophy right now and hoping to get one diamond in the rough. WKU and Murray St. are bonafide mid majors, with EKU and Morehead St. trailing behind, but i'd still consider them a level above of Samford currently, in terms of talent they need to recruit.

Fitzgerald was a monster today in a win over a really good Spiece 16U squad. Had 25 of the teams 32 at half and finished with 44 of 60. Deep 3s with a hand in his face, athletic finishes at the rim through contact. Had the whole bag of tricks on display. Turned a lot of heads in the Spiece Fieldhouse this afternoon...

I'd say a legit 6'4". Great strength in his core.

 

Would need to see him a few more times to get a better feel for level. Looked the part of a high major SG today, though.
