So what's the deal with the lights? Wasn't the installation and/or stadium renovation approved? Still trying to come up with the funds?

I find it hard to believe CovCath can't get the cash for lights.

The diocese has requirements for capital campaigns that require that the entity conducting the campaign (be it a church ot school) prioritize the items for which they are having the campaign. Once the campaign ends, they have to spend the money on the items in that order.

 

In other words they have to set out ahead of time that they want to do....call it A, B, C and D. A costs $460,000, B costs $140,000, C costs $75,000 , and D costs $625,000 (all made uo hypotheticals, of course). That would make for a capital campaign of $1.3 million. By the diocesan rules, if the campaign makes only $750,000 the money HAS to be spent on A, B, and C...even though they could have feasibly afforded to only do C and D instead. That's the purpose of the prioritizing.

 

Long story short, Cov Cath is still in the midst of their capital campaign and the school addition is a priority over the new stadium. They won't be giving up until they have enough stadium money though.
