April 1, 201610 yr Interesting article some I figured and knew, but the biggest surprise to me that North Carolina's Roy Williams makes less than $2.5 million evidently. I would have thought he would have made $5 million or more. Here's the link: Highest paid coaches in men's college basketball in 216 They have to pay off the teachers for the fake classes down there. Costly. Kidding, kidding......kind of.
April 1, 201610 yr Coach K and Cal seem to be deservedly making more than 2 million more than their peers. Worth every penny IMO.
April 1, 201610 yr Holy crap, Coach K. I see you. Knew he was the top dog. Don't forget to throw is whatever he makes from USA Basketball too. He is doing well for an Army boy.
April 1, 201610 yr Was surprised Pitino wasn't on there. According to USAToday Rick is over $6,000,000 putting him easily as the third highest paid coach.
April 1, 201610 yr Coach K and Cal seem to be deservedly making more than 2 million more than their peers. Worth every penny IMO. Thought the same thing going through. Rarely are sports contracts "worth it" when the person is established, but those two are easily worth their contract.
April 1, 201610 yr Very impressed to see Wichita State paying up with the big boys. Which is why Marshall can afford to be picky if he thinks about leaving. If/when he does leave, it will be interesting to see what type of coach they go after: big name who they can pay big money for, or lesser name and then reduce the compensation.
April 1, 201610 yr Very impressed to see Wichita State paying up with the big boys. Wichita's athletic department has a very generous donor in the Koch Brothers. It enables Wichita to compete on that financial level.
April 1, 201610 yr Somebody should've fact checked the author. Being a Buckeye fan, I was curious to see where Matta ranked. Had no real idea, so wasn't really surprised that he wasn't necessarily in the top 15 listed in the OP. But, looking at the link that plantmanky posted, he wasn't even in the top 68. Now, that DID surprise me. So, googling it, it seems like Thad should be somewhere in the top 10...making around $3.2 million per.
April 2, 201610 yr Author Mens-basketball | Coach | Salaries | USA TODAY Sports I guess this article just list the 68 teams in this years tournament.
