I don't agree. The best you can say is that you feel she over-reacted. How can you adjudicate whether she "almost" fell or not? That's awfully subjective. Same thing for how hard he gripped her arm. And what about the other reporters who were there and agreed with her account?

 

This is a transcript of her conversation with another reporter immediately after it happened that got caught on someone's video. It 1) shows she's been quite consistent with her explanation and 2) the other reporter affirms her account.

 

Fields is the female. Terris is another reporter.

 

Terris: “You OK?"

 

Fields: “Holy sh*t."

 

Terris: “Yea he just threw you."

 

Fields: “I can’t believe he just did that that was so hard. Was that Corey?"

 

Terris: “Yeah, like, what threat were you?"

 

Fields: "That was insane. You should have felt how hard he grabbed me. That's insane. I’ve never had anyone do that to me from a campaign."

 

Terris: “Can I put that in my story?"

 

Fields: “Yeah, go for it — that was really awful. That’s so unprofessional.”

 

Terris: “He really just almost threw you on the ground."

 

Fields: “He literally went like this and was grabbing me down. "I don’t even want to do what he just did to me. Oh my God, that really spooked me that someone would do that."

 

Terris: “What threat were you?"

 

Fields: “Nothing. I was asking about affirmative action."

 

Terris: “And he probably knows you, right?"

 

Fields: “Yeah, I don’t understand. That looks horrible. You’re going after a Breitbart reporter, the people who are nicest to you?"

 

Terris: “I know, I’m going to put it in my story."

 

I'm surprised you all are so readily dismissive of her based on a crummy security tape (which happens to show that Lewandowski lied about what happened). Of course, I have no idea if this levels up to an assault charge and no one has said she was given a double-leg takedown followed by an elbow to the head, but it certainly seems to me this was in excessively aggressive on his part.

 

And if he was gripping her arm so hard just exactly how was she going to fall?

I'm actually surprised by your position, and I can't help but wonder if your conclusion that this isn't a criminal assault is clouding your judgment. I really don't see what she lied about. She was grabbed by somebody from behind and retained her balance. That's the extent of what I've read she said. Surely when someone grabs you from behind and pulls you backwards, the thought might occur that you could have fallen.

 

Secondly, from the video, I don't see any possible way this could have been construed as a security concern. The was a roped off area, a woman the manager knows showing no potential threat, and she writes for his biggest champion.

 

Between the element of surprise, the relationships they shared, the bruises, and the lack of opportunity for Fields to see the video prior to commenting, I struggle to even claim that she embellished anything. This compared to the outright lies from members of the Trump camp including the candidate himself.

 

Not addressed to you specifically G Man, but I have Hillary placed only marginally above Trump and Cruz in my power rankings. In the grand scheme of things though, this episode falls fairly low on the list of offensive actions relating to the candidate, but I am genuinely surprised at the lengths some will go to excuse Trump, then in the next breath express incredulity that someone could rationalize anything Clinton does.

 

I challenge you to watch that video a couple of more times and you tell me with a straight face (straight typing face I guess) where Fields was:

 

1. Yanked down

 

2. Almost fell to the ground

 

3. Any attempt was made to forcefully throw her to the ground

Except that the video does not confirm her account. It confirms both of the involved parties lied and that she got too close to a Presidential candidate after allegedly being told not to buy the US Secret service.

 

It also confirms this incident was blown out of proportion.

First is a feeble attempt at a frame, Second is what is needed sometimes, for both sides.( not women but others who feel the need to disrupt when they should have stayed at home and minded their own business). By the way, I believe Corey L. may be a total jerk based on other stuff in the campaign but to say this is anywhere near the vicinity of battery is ridiculous. She was not manhandled at all. Look at the video closely. She does not change her facial expression at all and kept walking forward. She basically got her feelings hurt and is acting like a baby IMO.
