Weak stuff lol. He was providing security? C'mon. So he "secured" the one person out of all those others? Why single her out? It wasn't security, it was question-prevention.

 

And the lie was that he didn't touch her. You excuse that blatant lie by saying "he knew that she exaggerated when she said she almost lost her balance" and so he then is entitled to lie because she allegedly did? That makes it even worse for him. Makes his lie even more calculated. And, it's based on an assumption that she did not nearly lose her balance. You want to make allowances for him on the speculation that she is an easy bruiser then you should be open and amenable to the speculation that maybe she was on heels or has an inner ear disorder or just a bad sense of balance. Or are we only going to engage in speculations that serve just one conclusion.

 

Two things that don't have to speculated about are that he grabbed her, and then he lied about it. And he would still be lying about it if it were not for the video (speculation by me )

Nothing excuses his lie, but she lied first. In other words, she started it with the lies. It doesn't make it right for either of them. The bottom line is the alleged victim lied about a criminal act (which is actually criminal in many places).

 

And on her balance, it wasn't "nearly lose her balance," she said:

The video does not support her statements about balance/going to the ground at all so we don't have to speculate. It makes her a blatant liar. When you catch alleged victim's in blatant lies you don't charge anyone but then again the Florida police put middle schoolers in jail for pinching butts so what do you expect.

As opposed to the denial that Lewandowski even touched her? Yes, I would say that the video confirms that she did not make that up. He grabbed her and jerked her back, like she said from the beginning.

 

If you want to drag this into a hair-splitting contest over whether the security video proves she lied about almost losing her balance then I'm not going to bother with that.

 

So you can admit he lied, but you won't even entertain the fact that she lied about the incident too? Her version of the story is false.

 

Did she mention in her version of the story that the secret service told her to back off twice?

This is a transcript of her conversation with another reporter immediately after it happened that got caught on someone's video. It 1) shows she's been quite consistent with her explanation and 2) the other reporter affirms her account.

My issue with the secret service story is that THEY should have been the ones moving her back. They shouldn't have let her get to close and when she did they should have forced her to move back.

We disagree, in her own words Fields said:

AND

On your second point, I think we mostly agree that in the heat of the moment people react. In this case with Trump being startled it appears to be a breakdown in security if you are Lewandoski and he reacted. I don't see any issue with it and now you have heard of a campaign manager filling a security role.

 

I'm actually surprised by your position, and I can't help but wonder if your conclusion that this isn't a criminal assault is clouding your judgment. I really don't see what she lied about. She was grabbed by somebody from behind and retained her balance. That's the extent of what I've read she said. Surely when someone grabs you from behind and pulls you backwards, the thought might occur that you could have fallen.

 

Secondly, from the video, I don't see any possible way this could have been construed as a security concern. The was a roped off area, a woman the manager knows showing no potential threat, and she writes for his biggest champion.

 

Between the element of surprise, the relationships they shared, the bruises, and the lack of opportunity for Fields to see the video prior to commenting, I struggle to even claim that she embellished anything. This compared to the outright lies from members of the Trump camp including the candidate himself.

 

Not addressed to you specifically G Man, but I have Hillary placed only marginally above Trump and Cruz in my power rankings. In the grand scheme of things though, this episode falls fairly low on the list of offensive actions relating to the candidate, but I am genuinely surprised at the lengths some will go to excuse Trump, then in the next breath express incredulity that someone could rationalize anything Clinton does.
