I agree, it's an excellent hire IMO.

I do as well I think he is a good coach and I think he was also a big asset to Coach Kennedy and the Aggies this season.

Plus he has 293 career wins under his belt and Mississippi State is a tough place to win.

He had some really good teams at State plus he is a Kentucky boy. I think he attended Meade Co. HS.

Will be a great hire but will use WKU as a stepping stone to a bigger job.

They could be hoping that if he does do that, that maybe it'll be a Petrino-like situation. i.e. He brings a top assistant that they can then hire.

I'm a Dayton fan; usually when a coach leaves on his own it's because he's had great success in getting to the tournament. I'll be sad when Archie Miller goes but I'm grateful for what he's done for the program and I'll completely get it. Nature of the game.

I don't believe he will use Western Kentucky to get another job.

Remember, Rick Stansbury stayed at Mississippi State for 22 years. He was the head coach 14 of those years. Starkville is not exactly a metropolis, and Bowling Green is, in comparison.

I'm sure if hired he will have good assistants. Todd's hiring of Petrino was a great AD move which turned out great for WKU.

In rethinking my post, you might be right. I hope so. I do like Rick and am sure he will be successful.

Rick will bring in some players with more stars than Western Kentucky is accustom to

have playing for the Toppers.

Rick is slick.

I hope you're right. I know WKU is tired of the merry go round. They have not had a head coach that stayed more than five seasons since Clem Haskins in the 80s, and that was just six.

I like the hire. I hope he sticks around and restores the WKU program to how it is capable of being.
