Do you think he will be able to attract the top players from KY that have a nationwide reputation? I know there aren't many KY prospects like that but the couple that are do you think he will land them at WKU?
March 28, 201610 yr Author I know some of Stansbury's ties and I think he'll be able to get some big time players at WKU. The future is bright at Western.
March 28, 201610 yr I don't believe he will use Western Kentucky to get another job. Remember, Rick Stansbury stayed at Mississippi State for 22 years. He was the head coach 14 of those years. Starkville is not exactly a metropolis, and Bowling Green is, in comparison. Rick will be at WKU for a long while. I don't know the guy at all, but I'd imagine that if a bigger program came calling with a bigger salary, it is easy to pack up and leave. Probably didn't have a bigger program calling him while he was at Miss St.

March 29, 201610 yr Signed a 4 year contract with 3 one year extentions if both parties agree. Base salary is 500,000 a year plus many incentives to make more money. One interesting aspect of the contract is he gets 50% of the ticket revenue that exceeds 800,000 in gross ticket sales. Most other incentives pertain to academic progress and making and advancing in the NCAA tournament and the NIT tournament. If he leaves WKU at anytime during the contract he owes the University 750,000.
