Wow!!! What a game. Valpo (26-6, 16-2 Conf) used a tipped full court baseball type pass to force overtime but it was all Green Bay(22-12, 11-7 Conf) as they jumped out to a 10 point lead and then hold on for the upset win.

 

This was a the third win in three nights for the Phoenix and a huge payback win because Valpo had knocked them out of the tourney the last two years.

 

Leading the winners was,Jordan Fouse(Racine, WI)with 25. Scoring 24 was,Charles Cooper(Gary, IN) and helping the cause with 23 was,Carrington Love(Milwaukee, Wisc)

 

For the Crusaders,Alec Peters(Washington, IL) had a game high 32.

Valpo will have to settle for the NIT despite totally dominating the Horizon League all season. This is the problem when one-bid conference give their AQs to a tournament winner. A shame Valpo will not be going to the Big Dance because they were clearly the best team all season in the Horizon League.

According to a KSR report Pat Adams the official "tossed" the Green Bay Announcer during the game for his reaction to a call on the floor. One of the Valpo announcers finished the game for the Phoenix network.

Valpo would have been a legitimate upset pick in the NCAA Tournament. They have earned an at large bid. They won't get it, but they've earned it.

I have never seen an announcer, anywhere, at anytime, tossed from an event. What on earth could he have demonstratively done to have that happen?

Too much. There are getting to be too many officials with sensitive ears doing big time games.

I read that the guy was allowed to come back after it was determined it was a misunderstanding. He was a one-man crew so the Oakland U guy had to step in temporarily.

Not something I ever had to deal with. I do think there are expectations regarding behavior for those that sit at the table. You can't have media nor team scorekeepers being vocal.

I understand that completely, but from what I read the announcer talks with his hands, and was simply describing two players fighting over the ball. If that is true, a huge overreaction by Pat Adams. Just officiate the game, and quit worrying about what everyone thinks about the job you're doing.
