Mason County 67 Paris 63 (10th Region Semifinals)

Featured Replies

Paris certainly had a team capable of winning the 10th, but it just didn't happen. How the game went down surprised me, though. I would never have imagined the Hounds losing a 19 point 2nd quarter lead. That certainly makes this long sting for them.

Future is still bright for Paris. They should return just as much talent as anyone else in the 10th next year, and the trio of Ashford, Wells, & Johnson should have them back in the hunt for 2016-17.

As for Mason County, I have to echo what Papa said. It's pretty remarkable what this team has been able to accomplish with one returning starter and a handful of reserves from last year's team. Pig and Isiah Garrison have been outstanding in the post season, and in speaking of Garrison, he will ensure that the Royals will also be very tough in the future.

Score was 27-8 a few seconds into the second quarter.

It was tied at 40 a minute or two into the third quarter. Props to Coach Biggs for abandoning the m-t-m which was woefully ineffective against the Hounds, but there's no way that the Royals should have been able to score 32 points in nine minutes.

A parent saying they have "options" for next year for their child "if" isn't smart to put on internet.

He will be 16 yr old senior. Not talking about going to another high school. Prep school is an option;-)

Can you share updates on Garrard's recruiting status, D1 offers, scheduled visits, etc. getting late in Sr. year. Heard he was a great football player. Could that be his future?
I don't know the kids business like that about his visits or who is looking at him. I am only going off what I have seen him do throughout his career to make statements on what I believe is D1 capability.

I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize my son's future. Since you seem to kno all you should kno that Jekobi will enter his Sr season as a 16 yr old...Mayb prep schools haven't contacted you about my son but they have me...so prep school isn't a violation but I would think that you would kno that already since you are ParisPride.

Sometimes coach it comes down to he kid if he wants it he can get it...my question to you...who is D1 material in the 10th region..I believe the 17 class is better than 16 anyways. D1 doesn't define you as a person..where we are from college is an opportunity to break the cycle of prisons and institutions.

Could not agree with you more. My point in previous prediction thread with Ballislife84 that you probably missed was that D1 in 10th Region for Class of 2016 may be Matt Wilson only. Awesome athletes at D2, NAIA, etc...and to be fortunate to grab a ride there is a remarkable accomplishment and opportunity.

Maybe I am so adamant on Garrard being able to play D1 because I have seen way less talent make it. Also as a 10th region player, no one thought I could be recruited by D1 because of what threads like these and politics said. I was recruited by Delaware State, Howard, TCU and other schools that aren't the greatest D1 schools but they were D1. I just think it's crazy that so many people on here can't recognize talent and that there is different levels to this stuff. Thank goodness for summer ball :-)

I'm not disputing your own analysis...But honestly anyone isn't D1 talent until a D1 school tells you such and offers you a scholarship. Thus, I think that's why someone asked if you knew about any offers this kid has. There is no doubt he has talent (same as I think Pig does), but until someone tells me he's signing a D1 offer (regardless of low/mid/high D1) it doesn't matter what I think.

I totally agree with you on your not D1 until u sign. Our opinions mean nothing honestly. They are just opinions. But to not be able to recognize the level of talent and say that they cannot play D1 is totally different in saying they won't go D1. A lot of kids are D1 capable but aren't put in the right situations or given the correct exposure to get there. Seen it time and time again.

I never bash kids but Wilson is only D1 becuz of height and he doesn't dominate a game...his team had double digit losses to inferior competition. People say if Garrard goes d1 he would sit at the end of bench...where is Wilson goin to sit? Army love armed forces...I'm a vet but Army bball...Come on. You are down playing other kids but applauding a kid that's team under achieved jus like Paris and Garrard did.

They say the worst lead to have if your Paris is +15, disappointing. Congrats to Mason Co

So much athleticism - So little patience!!!

Paris lost the game. Got off to a great start and didn't play smart once mason went zone they continued to jack three's instead of ball control . Hard to watch from a spectator. Awful. Once again Garrard disappointed didn't even seem like he was engaged.

Very hard to watch - LIKE!

Biggs had to be giddy watching them continue to try to score against the zone

Mind boggling.

He went to a (lazy) zone to attempt to change momentum, which was all Hounds at the time. I'm sure he never expected to stay in it for the remainder of the game. He actually probably expected to be pulled out of it.

Biggs had to be shocked when Paris then played around the perimeter and jacked up three's all night. On the rare occasion when they got it into the short-corner to Garrard, there was nobody coming up main street to take the pass (so they only got the play half-right) forcing Garrard to have to create for himself out of an un-advantagous position.

I had the privilege of sitting with "Sweet Pete" Gifford (Deming) and we kept saying "track the ball" to each other. It tracked around the perimeter and then back until someone jacked up a 3.

Double Mind-Boggling!!!!

Garrard Wells and Johnson are all D1.. You're crazy if you think otherwise
