Paris was outcoached, which seems to be the same song and dance every important game. And that play ran a billion times over, y? Y can't coaches make this game simple? They went zone, back it out, if you decide you want to play, go inside-out. Wells or Garrard should have gotten the ball at the free throw line or in the middle all night. Very disappointing to watch.

Big lead was still first qtr. and too early to put themselves into what they do weakest. Paris is 100% best when they run and gun and they are GREAT at that! No 10th Region team can run with the Hounds. Halfcourt game is below average because they are not good shooters (27.9% on 3's and 61.8% on FTs for the season) and several starters are not dependable ballhandlers.

Wells is in a tough spot, under appreciated, but I can also seem getting even more lost in the fold next year. With Johnson, Cunningham, and Ashford and the Davis', the looks at guard. Wells will be forced to be a 4/5.

This may rub some Parisians the wrong way but hey things need to b addressed...As a proud supporter of Paris athletics a father of Wells and a friend of everyone that's in high places at Paris High School this is a hard pill to swallow. The perception of the Hounds always seems to rare it's ugly head in big games...Up 19 after 1st the kids done their job...now it's up to the staff to get them across the finish line...You cannot allow the team that's getting blown out to dictate what you do!! Championship of all A we have the ball w chance to tie...Turnover. Last nite same situation...same results!! We ran the same play all nite long like lionel richie!! Mason Co didn't panic and thoroughly out coached us last nite...hats off to them. Game comes down to this...Paris kids came out to play...coaches failed to make adjustments with big lead. Paris losses Garrard and Clark nxt year...we should b back to contend for region again but if things don't change we will continue to be labeled the most athletic team that can't close out a game by slowing things down and being patient.

Love to hear Balislife84's take on Mason's control of the certain player he unquestionably believes is D1? And that player was not J. Wells, who was awesome all night. His block on D. Williams in the last minute could have been the play of the game had the Hounds gone on to win.

Thts where he played this year...you saying Wells will b in a tuff position which means me as a parent will b in a tuff situation...I will not allow my son to crash and burn...he will b 16 at the beginning of his Sr year we have options if things don't change.

Oldercoach...is it or is it not the responsibility of a coach to get your best players ready mentally to play? Garrard didn't play well but Soph Johnson pumped in 17 which wasn't expected. The D1 comment comes from seeing the potential that he has...kids are recruited on potential you kno that...Wells is my son he's getting looks in football/basketball because of his upside. We as parents and fans can't want it more than the players tho...respectfully disagree w your take on Garrard Not having D1 potential. There are over 300 d1 colleges everyone isn't UK or UofL material.

I still say that Garrard can play D1. There are plenty of mid major colleges that would give him a chance. I will definitely agree he was not engaged last night, but that doesn't take away from his God given talent. Like I have said before, I have seen him play in the summer against much better talent, and he is definitely coached better and plays quite different than he does with Paris. Sometimes coaches have to bring things out of their kids, that's part of coaching. There are no motivators on that sideline. Yea you can say you shouldn't have to be motivated for one of the biggest games of your career, but the truth is, it happens. I already know Wells capabilities. I choose not to comment on him being that he is in my household.

Sideline meaning the coaches. Regardless of what anyone says, IMO they failed. Everyone is entitled to one ;-)

Paris has failed twice in these situations to tie when down 2 and last possession. Did the same thing against Brossart in the Class A Finals.

1st,2,3 or fourth quarter in a win or go home game, if you can't guard me man to man, im up 17 there's no way im attacking a zone defense.

 

Like previously mentioned, pull ball out and force mason guards to guard you, thus creating space and driving lanes.

 

Biggs had to be giddy watching them continue to try to score against the zone.

Sometimes coach it comes down to he kid if he wants it he can get it...my question to you...who is D1 material in the 10th region..I believe the 17 class is better than 16 anyways. D1 doesn't define you as a person..where we are from college is an opportunity to break the cycle of prisons and institutions.

Paris certainly had a team capable of winning the 10th, but it just didn't happen. How the game went down surprised me, though. I would never have imagined the Hounds losing a 19 point 2nd quarter lead. That certainly makes this long sting for them.

 

Future is still bright for Paris. They should return just as much talent as anyone else in the 10th next year, and the trio of Ashford, Wells, & Johnson should have them back in the hunt for 2016-17.

 

As for Mason County, I have to echo what Papa said. It's pretty remarkable what this team has been able to accomplish with one returning starter and a handful of reserves from last year's team. Pig and Isiah Garrison have been outstanding in the post season, and in speaking of Garrison, he will ensure that the Royals will also be very tough in the future.
