Daughter and her Australian beau met us at Melini's for sangria and pizza; then on to the game. Beau went with daughter to the UK-UT game; he was MUCH more impressed by the excitement in this one.

 

Whoever said that both sides had players step up at crunch time was correct. D-Will from 3 to put the Royals ahead. McGovney with a jumper from the FT line to put the Camels up 70-69. Then Pig's heroics; NBN from way behind the arc for the game-winner.

 

Several keys in this one for Mason. Keeping everyone in the game with several in foul trouble. Credit Matt Wilson for getting the Royals in trouble; until Biggs had his guys collapse on the big man, he was unstoppable. Staying in the game while Pig got an extended breather for 3-4 minutes in the final quarter. Seemed like everybody had their big moments.

 

Congrats to the Camels on a great run; I really thought going in that they would win fairly easily but you don't play the games on paper.

 

Sumo, I sat beside your better half. She behaved herself admirably the entire time. Never flirted with me once, and that showed REMARKABLE resolve on her part.

 

Congrats to Coach Biggs (who has done remarkably well with a team returning one lone starter from last season) and the Royals on a hard-fought win.

Buddy Biggs is an outstanding basketball Coach. They were able to up tempo in second half especially Third quarter. Things started falling apart when Mason Co hit a 3. Big time momentum going in at the half. Mason seemed understand that the ball needed to be in Pig's hands. Campbell Co didn't do the same

Every time down the floor your star must at least touch the ball. Big shout out to Tanner Clos on an outstanding game for Campbell. Kid plays as hard as anyone I have seen in a long time. He had great shot selection, pounds the boards St 5" 10 and pretty solid on the defense. He had double double. Matt Wilson what a tremendous player and a class act as well.

Nice to see no complaining about the 5th Region officials. Other than a couple of questionable blocking calls (one on each team), I thought they did a pretty decent job.

Refs did an excellent job. Let both teams play for the most part. They were much better than the girls last night.

Great players make great plays and it sounds like Pig did just that on the final play. Heck of a win for the Royals.

 

As for the Camels, it's a tough loss, but they've had a nice run the last few years. Matt Wilson and Trent McGovney have both been a pleasure to watch.
