Romney is the closest thing the Repubs have to a national spokesman. (Sure as heck ain't McConnell.) That's why Romney is giving the big speech today.

 

Congressman Mo Brooks, R-Ala., made an interesting argument on TV last night. He essentially said if the anti-Trump faction (Cruz, Rubio, Kasich) outpolls Trump, then denying the nomination to Trump at the convention would be justified, even though Trump would lead in delegate count. I question, though, how many Trump delegates would abandon him after the first round. I also question grouping the four candidates as three vs. one. Stay tuned.

If these OLD ESTABLISHED REPUBLICAN CRONIES try to stop the will of the people and stop Trump from at least trying to get the nomination then what is left for the people to do. Are we just supposed to sit back and let it happen and be content like a bunch of pigs waiting for slaughter.

 

They are afraid of Trump because they cant control him and are afraid he will take their power form them.

This proves Trump cant be bought and is for America. These other Republicans trying to stop Trump are nothing but in it for themselves and care nothing for America.

 

The people and military need to take them and execute them in public for treason against the American people and America. If thats too harsh then put them in prison for their remaining pathetic lives.

I would echo a lot of points made in this thread, but haven't seen this point: Even if there were some "legitimate" way to stop the trump nomination, (such as cruz just flat out beating him in every state left), it would not be perceived as legitimate by trump's supporters. Anyone who thinks trump would say "well, I got beat fair and square" is ...well, .....he would never say that lol. At this point, it's gotta be trump come hell or high water.

Some Republicans also are arguing that the new wave of Trump supporters aren't "true Republicans" and that Trump's comments about Israel are making some big GOP donors uneasy. Some see less success for Trump in the next round of primaries because voting in majority of these states is restricted to registered Republicans.

All these rich established politicians who campaign on nothing but lies and are in it for personal gain can just go. I will never shed a tear for any of them. CNN has Romney's prepared comments up already. He's going to call out Trump and ask that people throw their support behind one of the other three. He's going to point out examples of how Trump would be bad for America. He's also going to attack Clinton.

This is different than a Christie endorsement. This is serving 3 purposes:

 

1) To discredit Trump (duh)

2) To gauge the American public if Romney is a viable candidate (what they want to see)

3) Preservation of congressional seats (what the GOP is hoping to salvage)

 

It is one thing to get landslided for the Presidency, but to lose control of Congress will be the ultimate nail in the coffin. Once it became apparent Rubio was going to struggle on Super Tuesday, the GOP braintrust had this orchestrating. My guess is we will start seeing a lot of poll numbers with Romney vs. Hillary by this time tomorrow.
