Weber makes an excellent product. I figured it was only a matter of time before they enter the Kamado market, they would be stupid not to. This has my attention to say the least. IMO, the Kamado style grills are as good as it gets for most types of grilling and with Weber's history, I imagine they will make a great one. Although I do prefer an offset style smoker for ribs or large pieces of meat I would love to get rid of my gas grill and replace it with a Kamado style grill, going all charcoal/wood.

And if I rarely, if ever, do any offset cooking?

And I noticed the 2 Burner Dyna Glo weighs more and costs slightly more than the 3 Burner and it should have less parts meaning some of those parts have to be a heavier grade, correct?

Or to be specific, is the 2 Burner Model a higher quality grade than the 3 Burner Model?

The 2 burner has a cast iron frame vs the tubular aluminum frame that the 3 burner has. That is probably the weight difference.

The cost difference is totally in the burners. The 3 burner has straight tube 12,000 BTU burners. Very common and cheap to replace. Roughly $25 for a full set if choose to replace them.

The 2 burner on the other hand has what is called a "P" burner. These are pushing 15,000 BTUs each, which is actually more than most infrared burners. Roughly $90 to replace a set. They are commercial grade stainless steel vs standard stainless steel.

The disadvantages of the 2 burner is 350 square inches of grill vs 390 for a 3 burner. Because of the nature of the P burner shape and the size of the grill offset cooking is not good.

Advantage of 2 burner. The P burner was designed to displace more heat in a wider area, hence a more even surface heat with less hot spots.

So if you're a griller, who works over the heat all the time it's a great choice.

You really can't go wrong with either.

I love my Big Green Egg...

I'm seriously considering buying one.

In other words, just buy the Akorn and forget about having to replace the burners. Just sayin..

Nothing wrong with that.

I like having both though.

Gotta burn that paint off first. Of course some do like that lead taste. :lol2:

Yeah I was just joking around. I'm a charcoal guy, but I do still keep a gas grill hanging around. I find that it's getting less use as the years go by though, I don't even think I used it last year.

I'm seriously considering buying one.

If you are looking for a ceramic kamado you may want to comparison shop. Besides the Big Green Egg which is a great grill, check out Kamado Joe and maybe even Vision. All 3 have great warranties, customer satisfaction etc. Most pro reviews rank the Kamado Joe equal with the Eggs, and you get more for your $, especially if you catch a Costco roadshow special. I was set to buy one last summer and was waiting for the roadshow to come to Louisville and 2 weeks before the sale I got laid off and didn't buy it.
