The Most Likely Scenario Under Which Trump IS NOT the GOP Nominee?

Featured Replies

He seems to be well on his way, barring something strange, which certainly is possible in this political cycle. He leads big in most ST states. He likely loses Texas but will probably sweep all others. Unless something changes, he probably steamrolls his competitors on March 15 as well and will have it all but locked up when you look at the delegate math.

Is there a scenario that you feel will most likely stump Trump on his way to the nomination? Maybe something so heinous coming out of his foul mouth that turns away even his most ardent supporters? I doubt there could be anything heinous enough for his strange following. Some new, damaging revelation, perhaps ?

What about the party trying to "steal" the nomination from him at the convention? Everyone drops out after tomorrow and consolidates around Cruz?

If there's anything that puts a halt to the Trump Train , what will it be?

A sudden case of common sense by the few Americans that actually show up to cast a ballot?

Seriously, the next five years are going to be awful with either leading candidate in the WH.

Mitch and his cronies have something up their sleeves, not sure what it could be though.

Wouldn't doubt it, but what? If they try to take this thing from him, will it completely fracture the party?

I don't think he'll win the GOP nomination. I'm hoping for Kasich but at this point it might be a pipe dream, sadly.

I'm not seeing how he doesn't win. You thinking he won't have the magic number of delegates and then a brokered convention?

A co-worker told me this today, not sure where she is getting the information:

Sounds like the convention is going to be ugly. Some of the GOP is so anti-Trump (MJ assumes Mitch), they're talking about how they can change convention rules to keep him from being nominated.

So, in response, he's (Trump)supposedly finding folks really familiar with convention rules, 'cause he's preparing for a convention fight.

McConnell needs to ask some tough questions of himself before secretly outlining how he intends to turn the Cleveland GOP convention topsy-turvy. For instance: "What part did my just-say-no obstructionist tactics over the past seven-eight years play in giving rise to the Trump phenomenon?" A demogogue doesn't spring up in a vacuum, Mitch.

Wouldn't doubt it' date=' but what? If they try to take this thing from him, will it completely fracture the party?[/quote']

That's what you are praying for but please go ahead and tell us how you aren't.

Oh yeah, a fractured GOP would satisfy me as much or more than OJ getting his skull fractured in the pokey. But no, I definitely do not want this thing taken away from Trump. I want it to be Hillary v. Trump ( and so does she , BTW ) .

I wouldn't be shocked if Trump says another outrageously racist, sexist, or prejudiced (take your pick) statement that really hurts him. I think like we saw with Manny Pacquio, a homophobic statement is the way to lose support - and anything Trump says ceases to shock me any more.

Same thing I hear from other members of the religion of Hillary. At least you all are consistent.

I agree. I think that is the most likely scenario. Yet, I wonder what he could possibly say that would peel away enough of his supporters to cost him the nomination--- Jesus sucks and Charles Manson is God ????

Repub polling called for wife yesterday.

Before we could screen it my mother-in-law picked up the phone.

Asked who she would probably vote for in caucus. A - Trump.

In a somewhat huffy response next question was - if you did not vote for Trump who would you vote for. She just told them she had not thought about that.

So they do seem to be fishing for plan B.

Right now I’m kind of on the fence with Trump. The part of Trump I like is the fact that he’s not afraid to say what’s on his mind, not afraid of the PC crowd, doesn’t take crap from the opposition, doesn’t come across as a wimp that would kow tow to fringe groups, foreign countries, etc. Almost too good to be true at times when he says what some of us are thinking. Then there are times when he goes overboard sometimes shocking with his comments and hardly seems Presidential.

Then the conspiracy theorist part of me thinks this guy (who I thought was a liberal Democrat at one time) is part of an incredibly GENIUS plan by the Dems to infiltrate the GOP, hoodwink the conservatives and the public and completely bust it in numerous directions thereby delivering the Presidential office once again to the Democratic Party. It makes me wonder why he doesn’t spend that much time beating up on Billary.
