What's the beef between Macke and the Ft. Thomas posse?

Last year, the Highlands baseball team had a once in a lifetime season, were loaded and well coached and got to the state finals. Unfortunately, there was an early season incident when several players threw urine on a teammate, an incident that was widely reported in the media, but because Tricia Macke, in her position as a news anchor, reported on the story and interviewed the mother of the victim, she became persona non grata to many in Ft. Thomas. At that point, rumors began that she had an ax to grind because her son had gotten cut from the baseball team (which did not happen) and that she didn't like the Ft. Thomas Independent Schools because she did the story. I am sure she must have been concerned that her kids would be saddled with the resentment many openly expressed for her, so the decision was made that her son Spencer would attend high school elsewhere. And then it got worse.

Congrats, Tricia and HC. Tricia's got a big target on her back.... pretty, a celebrity and knows more about basketball then most of the guys on this site. Hopefully HC makes her the JV coach for next year... these guys will loose their minds.

Yeah I loved it when she obtained my Cell phone number and Called me at work and accused me of Spreading the Rumor that her Son was cut from the Baseball team and that I was the one saying she had a Ax to grind with her story. When I politely told her that I would indeed send her the Correct Posters Info who indeed made that Statement about her son, I didn't get a return Thank you or an Apology for the misunderstanding. Funny how that works ins't? I'm hoping she lost my number or I would have to take the same steps the Highlands player parents considered.....So was it Tricia Macke obligation to reach out to the FTIS and request that she help put the Baseball situation out in front of them to help them out? Help who out? Sounds to me that someone was using something for their own personal Agenda. Am I wrong?

Congrats to Holy Cross's Troy Houston & coaches on their Championship Victory. I used to play Softball with Troy back in the day and he is a great dude! Classy guy......

That is not the way it happened. Son enrolled at Holy Cross for a wide variety of reasons, including the fact that a former Division 1 coach was going to be coaching the freshman team, looked like a great fit all the way around. Things didn't work out for that coach, and the position was offered to a couple of others who passed on it. Finally, aware of her extensive AAU coaching background, Holy Cross offered her the job. She took it, fully cognizant and appreciative of the glare that it would bring to the program, good and bad. At the end of the day, Holy Cross is happy that she is involved in the program, they won the region, and the two coaches' kids (Spencer Macke and Ty Houston) scored 169 points between them in the tournament to lead the Indians, a total that I can never remember even being approached for that tournament. I don't know how they could have succeeded any more spectacularly than they did.

What is the wide variety of reasons you only named one and why wouldn't that D-1 coach not coach he should have had the time?

 

My understanding and from what I heard is that she got the job because of what she could bring with her as far as boosting enrollment for both girls and boys. I am not saying she isn't a good coach because she obviously knows basketball and I congratulate her and the freshman team on winning it.

 

Also lets keep in mind and again I am not taking nothing away form HC freshman players but a lot of freshman from other schools are not playing freshman they are moved up to strictly JV, varsity or both.
