Covington Catholic 63 Newport 32

Featured Replies

Andy Flood had 22. CJ had 11.

AJ had double figure boards.

Boring game. Newport just isn't very good.

It's certainly not a definite that Newport beats Highlands in the 36th.

I thought Newport was playing Bellevue in the district since Bellevue beat Highlands?

Mullins is a discipline issue. This kid has talent but no discipline. Left Holmes because of discipline. Some how manages to transfer to the open arms of Newport. He gets into more discipline issues with Newport at a game in Ashland. Gets removed by Snapp from the team. Newport then brings him back to the team. Big mistake! To top all of that, you have Covington and Hollis getting discipline in school about a week ago. Newport has Snapp and Davis, that are great young men trying to hold the team together. But when you have more than one discipline problem on the team, good young men like Snapp and Davis can only produce so much.

Three way tie for three seed when NCC beats Bellevue. Highlands beat dayton, Dayton beat Bellevue, Bellevue beat Highlands.

So how many did Wiggins have tonight?

Just spit my coffee all over my phone.

Aside from the Ashland incident, Mullins has not been a problem. He's actually doing well in school and not getting in trouble there either. So tell me more about what you don't know as opposed to what you THINK you know.

My thoughts as well. Not one incident on or off the court for Mullins since his return. Playing TEAM basketball at both ends.

Discipline has never been an issue for him off the court at Newport. Had one blow up at Ashland but that's been his only incident since going there. Not sure why people want to continue to bash the kid.

I like the kid. The few times I've spoke with him I would have never guessed he could ever be a problem. I'm not sure why people want to bash him either.

HAHA! Owen County had a packed gym tonight. No Wah-Wah Jones here?

None

Clyde says that it was the coach's decision not to play him. :sssh:

Mullins is better defensively than offensively. Outside shot looks average at best. Strong kid. Smacked a CCH layup off of the backboard and then influenced two others that were missed.

Mullins and the Wildcats have become the targets of some posters on here. Wish you guys would get to know kids and situations before espousing on things. I have no problem with people voicing opinions and saying they would not have taken him back if they were the coach based on what happened in Ashland. We all have opinions on coaches disciplining players, etc. But to state items as facts about a players actions in school and off the court without knowing is not really cool.

It might be time to invest in a mirror... take a look into it. If you are not following me, I have included an earlier comment you made towards others.

I think some of the snarky comments are just from those who get a kick out of being confrontational. They bring nothing to any of these boards. Can you guys ban them? HAHAHA

His response was aimed directly at me. No harm done.

Can we all agree that the Newport HC job is one of the most difficult in the Region if not the most?

You never know what you are going to get on a consistent basis and that is from a daily perspective. Will kids be eligible? Will they be discipline issues? Will they show up?

Everyone can bash on the Wildcats but I'd like to see Ruthsatz or another Top coach in the region go inherit those players and see what they can do.

....and another game thread goes wildly off topic ..... :(
