You are exactly right! Because of this, there really is no glory in achieving this title. I think it's preposterous that a small group of people get to determine who carries this title.

Green County has a guard by the name of Dominique Compton. He scored 48 points of which he hit 32 out of 39 free throws against Shelby Valley in the opening round of the Class A State. I've watched Quintin Goodin from Taylor County play. He's an all-around player who is heading to Xavier after he graduates. I'm sure both of these players are well-deserving by not just their talent on the court, but their attitude off the court as well as their academic focus. I know that one of the players mentioned in an earlier post has a dad that is superintendent. This player has been known by numerous sources to have a negative disposition on the court and displaying bad sportsmanship. I would sure hope that whoever gets named Mr. Basketball would not earn the title due to a family member's influence. That's the impression I'm getting. I'm sure their are many worthy Mr. Basketball candidates, but biased factors should not have any part of the selection.

 

I'm not sure which you are talking about but I feel pretty confident in saying that none of the voters care who his dad is.

I mentioned this on a different thread, i think Goodin is the best player in the state, but Williams has been the most valuable to his team.

 

However, Taylor County is getting better and I think if they win their region then Goodin will get it

I have no doubt and completely agree. My comments aren't directed at the players. As usual, it's the adults screwing things up!

By this logic you should rank LCA #1 in the state. They beat Lafayette by 29 who beat Mercer by 18. So LCA got to be better?

On the fliers that are sent, they are sent by the head coaches to all the coaches in the state.

 

Also, for the politics part, each coach gets a vote.

Just asking a question since everyone wants to ignore the head to head results between the top two Mr. Basketball candidates.

I was very impressed with Weyer and Williams at the all A classic. Both can score at will and dominate the boards offensively and Defensively. Was looking forward to the finals for a upclose one on one. Unfortunately they both lost in Semi-finals. They both are well deserving.

Carson Williams will probably get it. I'd give Trevin Faulkner the know over a Will Hager. Faulkner is the best on that Mercer team that came to Lexington and got "popped" by some real comp. I would give the Mr.Basketball to Taveion Hollingsworth a Junior over Will Hager. He's done the most with a way tougher schedule. Hafet not a Mr.Basketball candidate in a lot of people's eyes and the myth of MERCER is no more. They don't play anybody and are slow and not that good against competition. With all the added transfers and hold backs they came to Lexington and got beat by a dangerous Lafayette team with legit Lexington kids and no hold backs. This for you Gunslinger

I can tell you that after personally broadcasting over 100 games and seeing a lot of teams that no one is better than Carson Williams of Owen County. Roll the footage!!!

 

I do think Ben Weyer deserves close attention as we head into the postseason.

Will Hager is really good for Mercer too.

Q gets mentioned a lot but no disrespect to any of these guys... Carson is on another level.
