Kind of ho-hum game. Lots of effort just not a lot of production. NCC did not get much out of Weyer (missed a lot of shots) and Moeves (foul trouble first half) but Hall took over the game on offense and defense.

 

Highlands is well-coached and plays hard. Just lacks true scorers.

Both Highlands guards suffered injuries early in the game. And that pretty much sealed it cause the turnovers piled up.

Not the prettiest shooting night for the Breds, but they still get it done. NewCath defense forced double digit Birds turnovers.

 

Brennen Hall with a career high 25, one hell of a game from the sophomore. He had multiple steals, and some beautiful moves going to the rack. :ylsuper:

 

Ben Weyer with a double double, but had an off night from the outside......like I said in the update thread, I think he was trying to hard to have that superior game against guys he grew up with. He had a few NASTY blocks.

 

Coach Dawn was not wasting anytime yanking starters and putting in bench players early in this one. Trey Wurtz had a very sweet spin move and sky hook that was nothing but net.

 

The Birds had their own difficulty sinking shots, and the NewCath "D" was giving them fits all night.

I saw the Green kid roll his ankle early and left the game. I didn't see any other injuries. The Birds have a long way to go before they are competitive. Hard to believe that a school that size doesn't have more hoops talent.

Disagree with your competitive remark. They have played some of the better teams as of late really tough. Until the injuries they were right in the thick of things. An I know both guards were injured. The other guard was heavily bandaged up for 3qts. But NCC won and congratulations to them.

I think the turnover bug has been an issue all year with the Birds. Or at least from the posts on BGP, it seems turnovers are keeping them from really breaking out offensively.
