I just buy a big container of the plain Kroger oatmeal, the stuff that cooks for 10 minutes in a pot on the stove. Over the finished product goes a splash of milk, half of a sliced banana and a drizzle of Mrs. Butterworth.

I LOVE oatmeal, as long as it isn't the instant kind. Also love Farina and grits.

My daughter has several savory oatmeal dishes she wants me to try. One in particular she likes are oatmeal patties with onions, mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup. Apparently they're fried in olive oil and then finished in the oven.

Just had another bowl of steel cut with a little milk honey and butter, two pieces whole wheat toast with a little apple butter

I used to eat it uncooked on a regular basis. Brown sugar and half-and-half.

 

Stopped when I developed the annoying habit of whinnying at attractive girls.

I've made up a couple batches of steel cut oats in the slow cooker overnight. No better way to start a cold day.

There's a lot of similar recipes out there but I like this one so much I haven't tried them. I would use a crock pot liner as cooking that long the edges do get crusty.

Just finished my oatmeal for this morning. Now I'm leaning back in my chair drinking a hot cup of coffee to wash it down. Maybe, maybe, I'll think about doing some work now.:smug:

Working from home this morning due to weather. Had a bowl of oatmeal with butter and maple syrup and 3 pieces of bacon. Washed down with a glass of milk.
