January 15, 201610 yr 14 is a fear of snow. I don't know why I know that. My favorite odd fear is triskaidekaphobia, which is fear of the number 13.
January 15, 201610 yr In all seriousness, I don't have any true phobias. But I have counting compulsions that could possibly merit an entire DSM-V chapter.
January 15, 201610 yr I have aviophobia (I think that's what it's called). Fear of flying. I thought you were going to say textophobia.
January 15, 201610 yr Getslowphobia...the fear of all things getslow. Very rear, only one cause has been observed, and it happens to be here in KY in Pendleton County. No known cure as of yet.

January 15, 201610 yr My favorite one is one I just learned about last month: trypophobia. It's a fear of holes, specifically, irregular patterns of holes. Look that word up on a Google image search and try not to flip out. Scientists suggest that there may actually be a biological reason we're repulsed or even horrified by these patterns. They might suggest danger to a very basic part of the brain.
January 15, 201610 yr I have a fear of "Idiot ruthless inconsiderate drivers". I don't know what that would be called. :idunno: After having driven for over 30 years, and having had numerous near misses from dangerous drivers, I've now come to expect a jerk to to cut me off from out of nowhere, along with various other types of dangerous scenarios, and because I now expect and anticipate it to happen, I tend now to drive in a constant state of anxiety just wondering where the next idiot is going to come from. Of course it's good to drive aware of the possible dangers, but I've become a bit too gun shy so to speak that keeps me on edge, because whereas I once just viewed it as random incidences, I now see it as something that you can count on every time you take to the road. I don't know if there's more rude drivers on the road now than years ago, or if I'm just noticing it more now that I'm older. Is it just me, or does it appear that over the last 10 years there had been an increasing amount of drivers with attitudes that disregard the rules of the road, and replace them with the approach of "Whatever I can get away with"? Is it because there are more heroin addicts and meth heads on the road than before? I drive a lot in the inner city, so perhaps I simply just come more in contact with more unruly types with undisciplined upbringings (who are possibly on heroin or meth) that gives me the illusion that there are more idiots on the road now than in the past. I tend to think that I'm not seeing anything different than many of you have, but I gasp in angry disbelief every time I see people blatantly and selfishly do stuff on the road that literally could cost someone their lives. I try to tell myself to be more calm, and that my nervousness could actually cause me harm in the long run, but I've noticed myself sometimes flinching while passing through intersections just as an abused dog would flinch if someone were to try to pet them. I don't think it's yet gotten to the point that I need to hang up driving, but I have actually pondered seeing a professional about it to try to figure how I could back peddle a bit, and dial down on the anxiety, but I figure all they'll try to do is medicate me.
January 15, 201610 yr 14 is a fear of snow. I don't know why I know that. Probably because you fell down in it when you were all bundled up and were stuck screaming "I Can't Get Up!"
