January 15, 201610 yr It's a lot nicer now than watching overpaid guys underperform. Now we watch underpaid guys under perform? That's not better. :lol2:

January 15, 201610 yr Fire sales in baseball is why I've continued to gradually lose interest in the sport. As long as there is no salary cap, this is the only way for teams in medium and small markets to do well.
January 15, 201610 yr I'm all in on this team. Been looking at season tickets all morning. If ever there were a time to buy low, this would almost certainly be it, or that's how I'm rationalizing it anyway.

January 15, 201610 yr I have no interest in watching these guys. The way I have it figured, the boss realized he needed to write some ridiculously large checks to the guys he traded, blowing his budget through the roof, just to have a fourth place team. By cleaning house, he says some $ to make a run once the Cubs and Pirates either get old or deplete their minors making trades to compete with each other, leaving the Reds to battle the Cards like the good ole days. What I wouldn't give for some financial stability it baseball.
January 15, 201610 yr Are they lowering the ticket prices to match the buy low talent? $25/game is low enough for me, and considering what I predict attendance to be for the next few years, I won't be confined to any particular seat. I guess that would be a good argument for buying cheaper seats, but I don't mind overpaying a little to not be harassed by the yellow jackets.

January 15, 201610 yr Isn't St. Louis about the same market size as Cincinnati? They are by far an exception to the rule.
January 17, 201610 yr As long as there is no salary cap, this is the only way for teams in medium and small markets to do well. Another reason why I've lost a lot interest.
January 18, 201610 yr Pirates also. Not really, they had 20 years of terrible teams until they started drafting and developing better. The Cards somehow can always overcome the loss of FA's.
