AJ McCarron Reviews

Featured Replies

Playoffs and season are over. Let's discuss McCarron.

Personally, I thought if the Bengals won that game last night it would have been in spite of him, not because of him. He made too many mistakes. I will give him credit for making some good throws at the end of the game. He missed some too, but he made enough good ones at the end to get the Bengals the lead.

Personally, I see nothing that tells me he will ever be as good as or better than Dalton.

What say you?

I think he has some things which are great for the QB position. I think once he's settled in he is showing that. I like that he seems to be a good leader. He played well down the stretch, in a playoff game, something Dalton cannot say as of yet.

I'm torn between the two. Dalton is the safer option obviously. Wins, gets to the playoffs. But does not play well in big games. Higher floor lower ceiling.

Would need to see more of AJ before making a definite decision.

TOTALLY AGREE VOR. Bengals win that game convincingly if Dalton is healthy IMO. McCarron made some big plays in the 4th quarter but did not do much of anything before that. I don't put too much blame on him for the pic because it looked like the very wet ball just slipped out of his hand. Dalton is just a better option and at this stage of their careers is a MUCH better option.

If Dalton posts the exact game that AJ did last night, people would be screaming bloody murder. AJ had a 68 QB rating.

I don't know, what were Dalton's QBRs for his four playoff games?

Last two were about the same, in the 60's. I think the first two were worse.

Agree with you 100%.

AJ should be the biggest draft pick a team makes this year. Bengals could end up with several quality draft pics in May if they handle this right.

Way too early to determine what we have but I like his style.

McCarron's excellent TD throw to A.J. put the team in the lead with less than 3 minutes to play. You really can't expect anything more from a backup QB.

Why would you trade him? He's cheap and makes a pretty good back up. If Dalton goes down in the second game next year, I would take my chances with him than starting over with someone new.

If some team is willing to give up multiple first round, or a bunch of early round picks to get AJ, why would you not trade him?

When you compare Dalton where he is now to McCarron who has played 5 games then Dalton is better. If you compare McCarron to the qb Dalton was in his first and second year, then I would say McCarron.

For most of the game last night McCarron looked alot like Dalton has in the playoff games and that was not to good and missing throws badly. With that said what he did that Dalton didn't do was end up making plays at the end even after not playing well early. Let's not forget the second Houston game was very similar to his. Bengals had a chance to win it at the end and Green was open for a touchdown and Dalton over threw him. Last night at the end of the game when the Bengals needed their qb to make the throws he did it.

So yes right now Dalton is better, but if you ask me if I think McCarron has a chance to be better than Dalton then I say yes.

Wouldn't lose to TJ Yates.

The defense loses to QB's.. Not the QB.
