January 10, 201610 yr And you take him away ... and they lose by 20 .... VOR ... I love ya .... but seriously ... kind of surprised that you are going in this direction. There is a very fine line between being a relentless football player ... and being a dirty one. The truth is ... you can't really be one or the other. When you lay it on the line like Burfict does ... that line is going to be blurry. Name any NFL linebacker ... and I can show you a ton of plays that cross the line either way. I can tolerate aggressive live ball play. I have no patience for dead ball idiocy.
January 10, 201610 yr I can tolerate aggressive live ball play. I have no patience for dead ball idiocy. And none of the Steelers do that? You didn't see their O-lineman slamming Burfict and smashing his face at the goal line in front of the official? The double standard bothers me... If they were reversed, a penalty would've been called on Vontaze....
January 10, 201610 yr I honestly can't believe there is a thread about wanting him gone. At the end of the day he is the captain of this defense and well known he gets them in the right spots and emotional leader of this team. As others have said we probably don't even come close without him. Shoot he made the play that should have won the game. He hoenstly did a great job all game keeping his composure considering the Steelers were doing every thing possible to set him off. As for that last play Burfict could have took Browns head off. However Burfict even stopped his feet and didn't put any of his body into it but lower his shoulder. Now he should know with his reputation though that he can't even put himself in position for a call like that to be made. Now what Adam Jones did was just dumb and selfish. Joey Porter was trying to set you off and you can't let that happen at that point.

I EXPECT aggressive live ball play ... and by living with that thought you are going to cross the line of relentlessness and foolish at times. Two Steelers who make Burfict look like a choir boy ... 1. Greg Lloyd 2. Kevin Greene Pretty sure that guys like that helped turn around the Squeelers into a program that got back on the right track in the 90's. Sometimes ... you need nasty, gritty, line crossing, jerky guys who back down from nothing to make it to the next level ...

Burfict is the only reason it turned out to be a competitive game...
January 10, 201610 yr I went back and looked at the game thread and came across this post by footmaster: Now will Burfict get a penalty to hurt us? Nope he gets a pick... For the win! Give me ten Burficts!!!!!

Give me ten Burficts!!!!! And I proudly stand by it! Game was won by any reasonable measure.... And even now that the game was lost... Lol!.... I'll still take 10 Burfict's... Heck, give me 20!
January 10, 201610 yr Thank God, another common sense post in here... Thanks FC! Burfict is the only reason it turned out to be a competitive game... If hill holds on to the ball then people would be talking about how Burfict led this defense and team to a victory. For the people who act like he can be replaced. Let's not forget how big of an impact losing Odel Thurman was. This defense was ranked in the 20s in total defense and not as high in points given up even during the 6 and 0 start. However once Burfict got back the defense climbed to top scoring defense in the NFL and to 11th in total yards. Not to mention the Bengals were third in NFL in turn over take aways once he started playing again. For the person who said his negative plays hurt more than his positive is wrong. He has so many more positive plays than I think we even know.sometimes. However he does need a coach to hold him a little more accountable. Plày with emotion but play smart.
January 10, 201610 yr I hope I am proven wrong. Unfortunately, in large part because of Burfict's act tonight, we will have to wait a full year to find out.

You're making so much sense tonight that I'm about to tear up... Seriously, how can anyone want this kid gone? He's only going to get better and keep maturing... We don't need to be a minor league feeder to teams like the Patriots... Give me Burfict or give me death... Not really death, but give me as many Burfict guys as you can find... And I'll bet, they start finding playoff success.

January 10, 201610 yr You're already wrong... Tonight's game was a 23-3 loss or worse without Burfict IMO... And it was a loss with Burfict. With everything he did tonight, the Bengals lose. That is the bottom line. That's my last word on the discussion. Like I said, I hope he learns from this and gets his act together because his act tonight ended with a loss and that is the final grade on his performance.

January 10, 201610 yr A lose is a lose, especially in the post season. It does not matter what you do in the game that keeps you in it, it matters what you do to blow the game. I was working outside of the stadium and did not see it, but from what I was listening to and was told, this all falls on Burfict. Yes, the fumble too, but Burfict gave the Steelers a gift to be in FG range. And running off of the field towards their tunnel? Was that true? Heck, through a friend I knew Chad, great guy in person, a clown on the field, and at times off of it as well. One of the best things the Bengals did was get rid of him. It's just my opinion, as others have theirs that disagree with mine, and VOR, they are not going to keep him or get rid of him on what we say or think. But I would seriously think of getting rid of him, JMO. If they keep him, I hope he does redeem himself.
