January 10, 201610 yr Totally disagree--Without those two, they have no chance (see Bengals D late last year). Did they do bonehead things at the end of the game--Yes! To say the Bengals would have been as successful without them is ludicrous! Does everyone forget the Bengals were undefeated without Burfict?
January 10, 201610 yr I agree with Paul Brown. Every year at the start of the season he told his team, "Every one of you are important. None of you are necessary." Those guys are not necessary. The Bengals won games with those two on the sidelines. They don't need them. If Burfict did not play one single down for this team this year, they would have been right where they are in the playoffs. Same is true for Pacman. If the team can win without Dalton, they can win without those two. Just use tonight as an example... Vinny Rey (great young man) drops a game changing interception that my daughter could've caught... Burfict makes a difficult "game winning" (for every other NFL team) interception... There's no comparison really... Rey is a nice guy and a very good player... I still take Burfict. He's a lot better player.. And for the record, I've met and spent time with Burfict several times... He's a great kid who plays angry... I like him personally and I love him as a player.
January 10, 201610 yr Does everyone forget the Bengals were undefeated without Burfict? And their run defense sucked... Matter of time before it got exposed. We had some breaks too, like injured guys in Buffalo, etc.

January 10, 201610 yr Yep' date='[/quote'] So if the Bengals drove to the 2 and missed the winning FG you're not assigning any blame to the guy that missed it? Just Hill?
January 10, 201610 yr And the Bengals lost in the first round of the playoffs with Burfict. Scoreboard talks. Wouldn't have been within 10 points without him.
January 10, 201610 yr So if the Bengals drove to the 2 and missed the winning FG you're not assigning any blame to the guy that missed it? Just Hill? I always blame Nugent... He sucks! Fact is, they didn't need the FG to win... Just needed the Steelers to use all their timeouts... If that happens, the Burfict-Jones thing doesn't happen IMO... And at least I'm not blaming the QB who didn't play great tonight... People have been slamming Dalton for 4 years now when it's clearly been more on the coaching and execution... Now everyone wants to jump on Burfict for one play when he probably played the best game of anyone tonight... Hill has been bad all year
January 10, 201610 yr Let me spell it out for you in case you missed my point. You are saying Burfict will mature. You would have likely said the same thing about Pacman 5 years ago. Pacman's lack of maturity handed the game winning field goal to the Steelers. Yes these guys aren't choir boys. They can't control themselves on the field even when the ball is dead. Burfict is not going to change. He will be getting stupid penalties like this one tonight 5 years from now with whatever team he is playing on, just like Pacman did. For the first time in my life ... I can speak first hand about an NFL game I was actually at ... My goodness ... VOR ... seriously ... FOOTBALL IS NOT A GAME PLAYED BY LITTLE GIRLS WHO ARE SUGAR AND SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE ... ... THIS ISN'T DOWN TOWN FORT MITCHELL. I seriously don't get it (not just from VOR ... but anyone who think that the Bengals should get rid of Burfict). Football is a violent, physical game that is not meant to be played by sissy's and little girls. It isn't a "gentlemens" game. It isn't golf ... or tennis. Or volleyball. *Burfict has made great strides with his personality since college (do a little research on what a bonehead he was in college). *Without Burfict ... the Bengals get BEAT soundly tonight. He was all over the field ... backed down from no one ... made the play that should have sealed the game. *Adam Jones ... seriously ... he has made huge strides as a human being and is one heck of a football player. What I will agree to ... is that Burfict has a reputation. And that hurts him every once in a while. You have #66 ... who hammered him late ... and kept going after the whistle (I was in row 7 with a great view). He defended himself ... at the end of the play. He didn't pull the scumbag move that 66 did ... while he was kicking Burfict while he was still on the ground. The play at the end .... I was far away ... but the replay board didn't make it look like anything other than being very close .. and a tad bit too late to stop himself. The funny thing is ... I would have bet money that Bengals fans would have been all over the board ... complaining about the officials (and in my opinion .. that would have been justified). But getting rid of Burfict ... Adam Jones? NO FREAKING WAY. Watch some old school film of Dick Butkus ... he tried to murder guys every play ... and he wasn't real nice about it either. But ... that was back when "Pride Mattered" .....
January 10, 201610 yr Does everyone forget the Bengals were undefeated without Burfict? See schedule and an otherwise healthy roster. D was weak.
January 10, 201610 yr Wouldn't have been within 10 points without him. I'll take my chances and enjoy and respect my team much more. When the Bengals were still down 15-10 on the last drive, I told my wife that regardless of what happens I am satisfied and happy with the team's performance. Sadly, Burfict and Pacman changed that. I would been much prouder if the Bengals had failed on that last drive and lost 15-10 than I was losing the way they did. It was shameful.
January 10, 201610 yr And the Bengals lost in the first round of the playoffs with Burfict. Scoreboard talks. And you take him away ... and they lose by 20 .... VOR ... I love ya .... but seriously ... kind of surprised that you are going in this direction. There is a very fine line between being a relentless football player ... and being a dirty one. The truth is ... you can't really be one or the other. When you lay it on the line like Burfict does ... that line is going to be blurry. Name any NFL linebacker ... and I can show you a ton of plays that cross the line either way.

I was just with about 50,000 people who don't agree with you .... The section that I was in .... put the blame on 1. Refs ... who were horrible. 2. Hill for the Fumble. Once the ball crossed the 50 ... there was an overwhelming feeling that the Bengals had already blown the game.

Give me wins and I'll give you respect... I respect Burfict... I gotta assume you've never met him.
