Bluegrasspreps Boys Rankings 1-4-16

Featured Replies

To your comment about only looking at what they've done, they've beaten three regional favorites in South Laurel in Laurel County; Meade at Mercer; and Montgomery at their place. While SL was by 1 point, that was largely without Hager (due to illness). The other 2 were by 17 and 15, respectively. Another example was an 88-44 win over their district rival and the 5th or 6th ranked team in the 12th.

Litkenhous and Cantrall rating systems haven't seen them either, using just results to date. They have them rated 1st and 4th, respectively. And BGP has them ranked 5th.

All it takes is a bad night to lose. They could do that at any time, and will I'm sure. Same for any of the other top teams. But they do belong in the top 5.

I watched Meade, meh.

Let me again say you could be right.

With that said, using Montgomery County as a reason to have them up high doesn't do it for me. Same with Meade. Every region has to have favorites.

I appreciate the input. I'm flying blind without having seen them in person.

Mercer is for real, no questions about it, i think they have as good s chance as anyone cutting down the nets. Ive seen 15 of the top 20 and they are as good as anyone ive seen

Hager played almost the entire south game. Finished with 10pts 3 reb and 4 assists. He did not start but played most of game. It was his first game back after the illness.

I suppose I should have said a healthy and effective Hager. Had missed 2 weeks and came back that game. I believe he came in towards the end of the first quarter and he also subbed out quite a bit throughout the game. He had a nice spurt in the second quarter but was mostly passive other than that.

I really like what I see from this Scott County team. They are 15-1 even though the schedule has been average. They are one of the youngest teams in the state. All 5 starters return next season which will look to be a serious contender to win state in 2017.

Wow, after reading this you should have put them at #1.

I think they are deserving of #1 but Dunbar and Trinity have made it hard to ignore what they have accomplished so far. Bullitt East and Christian County have both done what they have needed to do to remain in their respective ranks. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mercer County ranked #1 before the season is over.

Mercer County definitely has the talent to be #1 at some point and I think they would be a good matchup for Trinity or Dunbar or anyone else. Their schedule isn't the best thing I've seen but it is what it is and they can only play the schedule they have. It always works itself out by March anyways.

I think Hopkinsville is a top 20 team but I understand why they're not right now after their losses at in the PRP tournament.

I think Hopkinsville is a top 10 team, but right now their record doesn't show it. They have played some serious out of state competition over the last 2 weeks that will help them out quite a bit. They need to learn how to keep a lead in a close game. They have struggled with that.

I totally agree..

For what it's worth, Trinity has played six games against top 10 teams.

When was the last time a team was Preseason #1 and dropped completely out of the rankings by the 3rd update? Wow.

Yes it was,,it was actually a tighter game than the final score indicates.
