If not I agree with GT in that it's hard to call somebody who's been around forever (primarily as an assistant) an "up and comer".

I'd say it worked out pretty dang good with Gran at UK. How'd it go in Cincinnati this year? Come on man, it was a great hire for UK as compared to Dawson. Now they should worry about the real up and comer Hinshaw and hope he stays.

Told you all Gran would put Stoops over the top. He called a good offense this year, especially with a backup QB.

I'm with you man. I just remember Gametime telling us how it wasn't a great hire and he was glad he was gone from Cincinnati. Not in those exact words but in general.

The regression at UC was drastic, however, as we saw with UC it was a sinking ship. UK had the the personnel and Gran did a good job utilizing what he had to work with.

They definitely did a good job adjusting their offense. They came into the year with a bad game plan. To start this year they tried to be a fast pace passing team. When Barker got hurt they did a great job adjusting and realizing we are a better running team and paid off. Would have been interesting how Barker would have done if they started off the year with the same offensive mindset with making the running game the focus.

That was our play calling inside the red zone was very questionable at times and probably cost us the Georgia game. So some of the problems gametime mentioned is some of the same stuff we saw.

When you get down into the red zone, it generally comes down to the Jimmies and Joes and not the coach.

Let be honest, if Barker doesn't get hurt UK probably doesn't move to the ground game as quick. UK likely doesn't make a bowl. Stoops likely gets fired. Gran is likely thought of as an incompetent. Hate to say it but Drew not playing ended up being good for everyone other than Drew.

 

With that said if this is the identity UK keeps, it will give all the QBs a chance for success, including Drew.

Regardless, it was a great hire by UK and UC did not show an upgrade with him gone. That, we all know is true.
