I've watched most of every cc varsity and JV games for the past 8 years. Many freshmen games as well. I do think the coaching staff identifies talent early on (7th and 8th grades) and decides those are the kids they want to develop. But I think most coaches do that. I also think they "miss" every once in awhile, and are a little slow to react and play other kids when they miss. But they eventually see the reality of the situation and get it right. I think more often than not they have the best talent in the right places. This year is no exception. The kids you have specifically mentioned are good players and deserving of varsity time. And they are starting to get some. But the differences in them and those that start in front of them is very slim. To the extent it's a coin flip. Bertsch in my opinion has more upside than zumwalde. That's why he starts. Geiman is also good, but he is not discernibly different than the young man that starts in front of him. I'd be ok with either starting.

 

I don't think for a second it's politics, last name, or anything else sinister. I also believe at cc or other schools it hardly ever is. It's usually only seen that way by someone who does not have the ability to see things objectively.

 

Its pretty sad that kids have to transfer schools because a coach decides not to use their talents.

 

If everyone outside of CC can see the talent then maybe its something to be said about the talent evaluation in CC.

I think I'm beginning to see what some of CC's problems are by seeing this thread. Lots of dissention apparently. Never ceases to amaze me how the same people that cheered for you last year are the first to throw you under the bus when you lose a few this year.

3 starters returned and 2 others got in A LOT of games. I doubt they were just in blow outs.

I missed two Camels games last year. That being said, I would say Measner's total varsity minutes equal less than 2 total games as far as minutes played. I'd put him 9-10 on last years depth chart.

Bertsch, I'd be surprised if his total varsity minutes equal more than 2-3 total games as for minutes played. I'd put Bertsch 8-9 on last years varsity depth chart.

So yes, both were in several varsity games but, playing time was very limited, especially for Measner.

So, are you saying that the other players that have put in the same amount of spring and summer time as the ones you coached, should be benched for your players to get some playing time? No I haven't implied or suggested someone be benched. What I have suggested is that, coaching philosophies be addressed, talent be reevaluated and hard work rewarded with opportunities to contribute to the teams success.

Why do you worry about Campbell so much when your kid does not even go there. Coach Russell is a very good coach who cares a lot about the kids he coaches. Just ask the kids that he coached at Newport and Campbell. By the way I would like to know how many coaches in the ninth and tenth region that have won 3 regional titles. Guess he lucked in to those. You obviously have a problem with Russell. You need to get over it and worry about your son and where he is playing. Sounds to me at some point your son was in Campbell's program and it did not work out for your son. I feel sorry for you that you have so much anger. Merry Christmas!!

I thought your son played for Holy Cross. Holy Cross beat Campbell last week. Russell was the guy coaching Campbell

My son doesn't play for HC and I didn't watch the CC coaches because that's not what I do when attend a game.

You do not make an even reasonable argument. If you are as adept at evaluating basketball talent as you say, then it is absolutely impossible you haven't looked over and seen the big tall guy in a purple shirt coaching CCHS. I call you directly on that line….

 

You clearly have tipped your hand throughout this thread and it abundantly transparent what your agenda is….we get it, you believe you are a better AAU coach than CCHS' high school coach. You believe you can evaluate talent better.

To your point #1. How many regional championships does the man have to win in order for you to think he only underachieves? Or are you telling me he has had the talent to win state but has failed to do so?
