Bo Ryan retires effective immediately

First Steve Spurrier and now Bo Ryan. I guess the Rent-A-Player culture has passed him by.

He he should have called Aaron's.

He was a great coach. But yes, the game has passed by him.

He might be sick or something.

I know one thing. I'm not sure a comedian could make Bo Ryan smile. It took his SID darn near choking to death to get him to crack a smile when I was there.

Yet he still got a team to beat UK and almost beat Duke.

Yeah, it's been a long while since that National Championship game...LAST YEAR!

He was a great coach... He built his teams on 4 year type players. At the moment he's pretty thin in that aspect. It's a good time for him to get out while he's still in good stature.

I think you missed my point. I did say he's a great coach though.

He IS a great coach and I know things are advancing rapidly but I'm pretty sure the game didn't pass him by over the summer.

He has just under 750 wins. Great coach.

OK, he IS a great coach. But that team he had last year was made up of veteran players, hence the idealism that the game has passed him up. He has hung his hat on the philosophy of coaching veteran players his entire career. He wouldn't have continued sucsess in today's game.

I believe he recognizes that and that's why he's retiring. Personally I love the guy, so please don't take my comment out of context.

You made a silly statement. Just back away...lol.

Didn't Bo Ryan talk about retiring last year, but decided to come back because he didn't think the AD would hire his assistant coach whom he wanted to get the job? It seems to me that it was his plan all along to retire in the middle of the season so they would have to hire the assistant as the interim coach.

A good time for him to get out would have been in May 2015. I'm trying to hold back my comments in case something comes out about his health. I just think it's BS for a coach to leave in the middle of the season without the reason being health concerns. You screw over a lot of people.

Or like I mentioned above, he was looking out for his assistant coach.

From every report I've seen, he isn't sick at all. Was just doing what he had to do to give his longtime assistant a chance to coach.
