December 12, 201510 yr 2016 election: Ben Carson blasts RNC, threatens to leave Republican Party - POLITICO We haven't had a Carson thread in a while, and this is interesting that the GOP is undercutting its lead candidates.
December 12, 201510 yr GOP is bailing water from its rowboat. Two top-tier presidential candidates are, in effect, party outsiders, and now RNC Chairman Reince Priebus is planning a convention coup. How soon before we see the GOP split in two?
December 12, 201510 yr I've said all along that this was coming. No way the RNC wants either Carson or Trump getting the nomination. They know that both are lost causes in the general.
December 12, 201510 yr I've said all along that this was coming. No way the RNC wants either Carson or Trump getting the nomination. They know that both are lost causes in the general. Keep telling yourself that. A lot of you on the Left are ignoring the fact that most of America is fed up with the status quo and are looking for someone other than what we have had in the past.
December 12, 201510 yr Keep telling yourself that. A lot of you on the Left are ignoring the fact that most of America is fed up with the status quo and are looking for someone other than what we have had in the past. The left has nothing to do with this squabble. This is a battle royale within the GOP. Priebus better be real careful if he thinks he and his cigar-chomping pals are going to anoint someone like Bush or Rubio at the convention and not have serious fallout.
December 12, 201510 yr They are going to be in Cleveland this summer with no clear candidate. That is killing their chances. Republicans make up 28% of the population and Trump at 35% leads the way, which really is not near a majority, not even close. The only way the Republicans win the genera is determine a candidate soon and pound away at HLC. I don't see that happening until Cleveland this summer. No poll has any Republican candidate ahead of HLC right now. I know it is early, real early, but they need a focus now. The Republican Party tries to stand for fiscal discipline, economic growth, and strong military defense is being lead at this time by a candidate delivering hate and non inclusive stances. The latter is being supported by the older southern white male population by and large. This isn't even close to the majority of the US. The Republican Party is really trying to move to their agenda mentioned above and be more inclusive. they know they have NO chance in the general unless they do. Thus the problem
December 12, 201510 yr I am with Capt, people are discounting the % of fed up by main stream USA. I hear it everyday from Rep and Dem alike. Who would have dreamed the Ky Gov race ended the way it did. Crossover vote. And there is going to be lots of crossover in the coming election and not Rep to Dem either. Watch. If I am wrong call me stupid. Because if I am right....

I was alluding to the mindset of a lot of the Left. None of you thought Trump would last this long. You posted as much.

Polls: Top GOP candidates lead Clinton in general election heats | TheHill Clinton vs. Trump, Fiorina - Rasmussen Reports? December 12, 201510 yr Author So you fellas think if Trump runs independent and the repubs send in (fill in the blank) and Hillary for Dems, Trump will pull enough from both sides to win? I guess stranger things have happened, but I could see Dems going to a moderate independent, but jumping the far right Trump seems a little unlikely.
December 12, 201510 yr No Such Thing as a Trump Republican - Michael Reagan - Page 1 My favorite quote from that article... He launched his political career by promising he’d “solve” the immigration problem by rounding up 11 million Hispanics and other illegals and tossing them out of the country. Now he’s attacking 1.2 billion Muslims. Who will be his next target? Three billion Asians? When you put it like that...
December 12, 201510 yr I've said all along that this was coming. No way the RNC wants either Carson or Trump getting the nomination. They know that both are lost causes in the general. As many on the right forget, they have a numbers problem. Where they picked up seats a year ago was not a huge deal, maybe a math guy can help us on the numbers for the electoral votes, but right out of the gate the Dem will only need to pick up a couple of dozen electoral votes to win.

In the Real Clear Politics Poll, it shows Rubio beating Clinton head to head in yesterday's poll. RealClearPolitics - 2016 Election 2016 Presidential Polls You know the story. They will probably win the swing states in the South. They have to pull all of IL, MI, CO, OH, PA, CO, FL, VA, NC. Remember more than likely ALL of them. If the Rep take FL, NC, VA, OH, MI they still lose. Trump and Carson cannot win all of those. I doubt any Republican can right now. The only chance is Rubio and it's not a huge chance and he may not get the nom until July/August. You know this or you should know this. There are those in Republican Party that know this and realize they cannot win with hate and bigotry in (being non-inclusive) in New England or most of the states north of the Mason Dixon Line. The Republicans, like it or not, are in a rough spot nationally unless they can get a candidate they all can back SOON.

Hate and bigotry has worked for the Dems for years. The evil white man, the evil pro gun crowd, the evil right hates women. Lie after lie. What the problem with the Repub establishment isn't that they don't think Trump can win, they are afraid he can and they can't control him.
